It sure does... But it's meaningless. It's failing to give the parameters. Compared to last season, this team is way better at shooting than last year... Of course the average shooting percentage will be up.7% increase in shooting percentage jumps off the page.
When backs are against the wall, programs can either step it up or cower in the corner. So far, so good.It sure does... But it's meaningless. It's failing to give the parameters. We only have data on two players from last year, so if JJ and Freeman are shooting better, that's great. Really great! But what about everybody else they don't have data from previous years? How are they counting those guys?
Without letting us know exactly what parameters they improved, it's merely marketing BS. I highly doubt they are anticipating we go from the 240th best three point percentage last year to the best three point shooting team in the game year over year? Or maybe they do... We won't know from that infographic.
I'm glad they are bothering to engage fans this year, so that's a good thing, but throwing out random unverified and unexplained statistics isn't helpful. To me at least.

This is why the clean house mentality was so important before the portal even started in my opinion.Yeah it’s all marketing. For me improvement is what the summer is about and so long as that is the true goal with a focus on getting those results, I’ll let the spin be what it is.
We have seen players regress or not have any improvement of recent years over the summer too often so to me the pattern of actually getting results, especially with respect to improvement of strength and conditioning that is very evident, is a massive step forward.
The rest of it has to show up on the court to which the depth of talent on the roster to create competition, the athleticism and of course the aforementioned points of emphasis is refreshing and puts some momentum behind having a reason to have some optimism, guarded as it may be.
Having Bell leave was a good thing but one year late. This is why the clean house mentality was so important before the portal even started in my opinion.
There were no seats made available for any guys that were "wait and see" or "maybe they improve" or even deep bench guys that "could help us" late in the season. That was mainly the category of Kyle Cuffe and Petar. Also I've been very critical of Chris Bell as a plague both in the locker room and on the court from a senior leader perspective.
Donnie was the 1 guy we needed back and I expect we made him priority #1. Lastly my take on JJ still was that he was expendable but given he came back the right way with his hat in his hand without entering the portal and also dedicated to recruiting new guys in the portal. Both came back the right way then early pickups for both Nate's and the pieces starting falling in line.
I just got back lol.Hey, noticed you are back.
Did you ever walk from northern NJ to Syracuse like you said you were going to if we beat Duke?
So hot.Are they hot?
LOL...Good answer.I just got back lol.
JB lost me at best class ever. Can’t count on his judgement anymore.Basically just JB rambling and about 30 seconds on this years team mixed in
That was ridiculous, but I'm not totally sure he really believed that. I think it was more to stem the criticism of him and the direction of the program. He said a lot of self-serving things like that in his last several years.JB lost me at best class ever. Can’t count on his judgement anymore.
I agree, but I don't think it was his ability to judge basketball skill that was the problem.JB lost me at best class ever. Can’t count on his judgement anymore.

Can anyone direct me to a site that shows the teams actual faces? Google has failed me.
I think you'll have to scroll through their recruiting pages. Otherwise it's a bit of a guessing game looking at various clips wondering who is who... I still have trouble with some of the players, especially in game play, when they have similar build, skin tone, equipment choices and haircuts. Can anyone direct me to a site that shows the teams actual faces? Yeah, JB definitely emphasized conditioning and stamina for players for most of his career. But I’m not sure how much he was pushing the latest in modern strength training and getting stronger, except for some of our big guys who had to bang down low. I would also add that like many things about JB, he lost his way in his latter years and probably didn’t emphasize this aspect of the program as much and just left it up to Hop and the assistants to manage S&C. He allowed Cabiles to just keep doing what he was doing.JB was well known for caring about player’s conditioning, stamina and if a player was overweight. He had players leave the program for not losing weight after their on court time was cut because of their poor conditioning. I recall Anthony Harris saying he left SU after Boeheim was all over his case about his weight. Years later after playing in Hawaii, he said Boeheim was right - that only when he was older did he realize how his weight and stubborness over it, really had held him back. I used to watch him run guys ragged up the stairs in the dome during practice before the Melo Center. I don’t recall major strength emphasis but conditioning and being over weight was a definite issue aggressively addressed. The players including his sons lifted weights but I don’t know what a priority it was as a team.
Richmond, Waiters, Hill, Brower and probably more than I can even think of, had time lessened because of conditioning or weight issues too.I admit I never knew about the priority of weight lifting/strength. Old school beliefs regarding shooters losing their shooting touch from too much weight lifting etc was a well known issue with many “shooters” too. How that old school thinking affected JB’s , the assistant’s, Cabile’s and player’s views themselves is a good question as it was a definite thing back in the day. My only point was that JB did care and addressed conditioning, stamina and weight issues.Yeah, JB definitely emphasized conditioning and stamina for players for most of his career. Nice guys sometimes struggle to hold people accountable, which allows for complacency to set in.Ryan seemed like a nice guy …. But the energy just seems way different now
