Yes the $20M is not accurate.
You are 100% correct! The long term continuity approach to the coaching staff is a great thing but it only works if you have the right guy at the top and we didn't. So you don't keep limping along *hoping* that the guy who isn't the guy will become the guy. That isn't good management. Good management is giving a reasonable amount of time to make your own decision, which Coyle did, and then being decisive in that decision, which he has been.
What happened at the end of the first half against FSU and what happened with Dungey and his latest injury should never, ever, ever, ever ,ever ,ever ,ever be decisions that a good college football HC would consider making the way that Shafer made them. And that is in year 3, not year 1.
I'm literally dumfounded that people actually expected Coyle to not fire Shafer considering the decision making we've seen in the last 5 games or so. Coyle gave Shafer a fair opportunity to audition and he blew it, plain and simple.
"I'll make some kind of weird point and use completely false information and then when other people call me on it I'll just act like THEY'RE the ones being ridiculous, take my ball, and go home."I'll just stop since you guys have the answers.
You just described the business plan for Fox News."I'll make some kind of weird point and use completely false information and then when other people call me on it I'll just act like THEY'RE the ones being ridiculous, take my ball, and go home."
Uh, as mentioned, no, the numbers are not correct. At all. Like, not even within earshot of being correct.
It took literally 5 seconds of Googling for me to find the revenue for last year.
It sounds like you have all the answers since you are telling us what we all "need to understand."I'll just stop since you guys have the answers.
Looks like his number isn't that far fetched for 2014, assuming he meant 20mil gross profit and not revenue before expenses.

His words..." You guys want to pay someone $3 mil a year (and that doesn't include staff by the way) when revenue for the ENTIRE athletic dept is only $20 mil?"
I will not try to spin his words to say something else. Where in that sentence or anywhere else in his diatribe does he reference 20 million in profit?
On the first page I had said that perhaps the OP meant profit instead of revenue. Then Jeklish said that "Uh, as mentioned, no, the numbers are not correct. At all. Like, not even within earshot of being correct.
It took literally 5 seconds of Googling for me to find the revenue for last year." Which is why I showed that last year we only made 15 mil after expenses which would also be 5mil less the OP's number.
