Griffin now 3 years making the tourney out of 8 chances (assuming we don't make it this year).I don’t see what Griffin adds at all.
Seems like it's not really working to me?

He coached the centers before the forwards and outside of Jesse for a couple years that was our weakest position. He moved to the forward group this year and Bell got worse.Griffin now 3 years making the tourney out of 8 chances (assuming we don't make it this year).

I still believe Jesse improved because of his work with his national team.He coached the centers before the forwards and ourside of Jesse for a couple years that was our weakest position. He moved to the forward group this year and Bell got worse.
Keeping him for 2025.Keeping him after last year???? You think he should have been fired after last year?
I can, the players want to win and continue to play hard - you would realize this if you watched the games and ignored the hundreds of post about the players giving up. What is very obvious, is that so many fans on this board have given up and stopped supporting the team, even though the team has not stopped trying to win.Did they do a deep dive on why Mizzou sucked last season and are good this season? I assume not.
Last year Mizzou lost 2 of their 3 starting guards (including their best player this season) in the beginning of the season, plus had a slew of other injuries to primary guys. They were in a tough SEC (not as tough as this season, but still very good) and they had a some middling transfers. Gates kept the guys that did well and added a boatload of talent.
Gates at least had a track record of developing a program. Cleveland St hadn't had a winning program in 5 years. Gates put them in the tourney in his 2nd year there. Won 2 regular season conference championships in 3 seasons. He put Mizzou back in the tourney in his first season there after they had only been there 2 out of the previous 9 seasons.
Syracuse does not have the talent base that Gates had last season and Red doesn't have the track record Gates has.
A comment from a Mizzou fan: "Honestly, I feel like the fact that this team never stopped playing their asses off is a testament to how good of a coach Gates is. He just didn't have enough healthy talent left ..."
Can anyone say the same about Red's teams with a straight face? They're not two sides of the same coin.
25? Or 26?Keeping him for 2025.
With respect to Griff, he's not doing himself any favors by calling out the fans on local radio plus his track record messaging fans on Twitter.I don’t see what Griffin adds at all.
If you are getting rid of the assistants just kid rid of Red along with them and start over.I agree and would get rid of Griffin and Englestad, but keep Straughn. Hire some good damn assistants (outside SU family), especially someone that knows about X's and O's on offense and teach defense.
What did he say about fans on the radio? With respect to Griff, he's not doing himself any favors by calling out the fans on local radio plus his track record messaging fans on Twitter.
It's childish and unprofessional.
Meet him at Cafe Kubal he’s there every morning and he will talk to any fan that’s wants to talk ball. What did he say about fans on the radio?
Griffin seems almost like a package deal with Red. Aren't they best friends or does it just seem that way? With respect to Griff, he's not doing himself any favors by calling out the fans on local radio plus his track record messaging fans on Twitter.

I have some skepticism about analytics staff. What are the odds that they're coming up with anything proprietary that's correct? If they're not coming up with anything proprietary, and they could just use basketball reference like the rest of us, then they're probably working on different analytics problems like how to get more money out of people's pocketsFor sure. But I believe most of the power conference teams have analytics and research staff. Maybe I’m wrong.
What did Griffin learn from boeheim that Autry didn't?Based on what?
Definitely. I can't see Red getting rid of him in any circumstance.Griffin seems almost like a package deal with Red. Aren't they best friends or does it just seem that way?

I'm thinking of the bills here when maroon was the coach, they had a smart analytics guy who was probably just working on marketing projects from Russ Brandon
For what its worth, Auburn has a bunch of mid major transfersJUCO?! As if it hasn't been bad enough with the Colonial League all-stars on this team.
This is entirely incorrect. One of the guys I used to listen to on his podcast years ago did analytics for the NHL. I remember him commenting that 95+% of what they found using analytics was either obvious correlations that everyone already knew, or noise that didn't actually matter. Finding something that was useful to apply in actual gameplay was rare. Analytics departments have evolved into something that has very little actual value - other than the ability of people to break in to sports and show they are "data guys" which is increasingly a requirement to be a GM...teams spend on it because they have to, otherwise they'll be called dinosaurs if the team isn't winning.
That would be my plan but it sounds like he's getting a 3rd year no matter which makes no sense but the excuses seem to be mounting up for him.If you are getting rid of the assistants just kid rid of Red along with them and start over.
I'll spell it out - there are people on this board that think Red should keep his job going into the 25/26 season because they think Kline is some sort of savant.25? Or 26?
Or their trying to stay positive in a situation that's a crap sandwich.I'll spell it out - there are people on this board that think Red should keep his job going into the 25/26 season because they think Kline is some sort of savant.
Accurate. You're probably looking for 1 and it's gonna cost.Good luck getting any assistants of quality when the HC's seat is on fire going into Year 3.
Maybe you find a diamond, I recall last year there was interest in the head coach at IMG. Maybe you get a High School level coach looking to move up a level and use his connections for recruits and transfers.
I'm OK with this.Kline isn’t tied to Red & staff. Kiyan isn’t tied to Red & staff. Red & staff could all be fired tonight & Kline would remain with Kiyan still joining next year.
