Talent

WHAT?

Listen, I'd rather have Clark on the team - at DT or as an OG for that matter - but the kid isn't Tim Green.

To think you actually think we are 4-0 without Clark makes me think it's time to up the meds.
Clark only played as a freshman and a sophomore, he is a growing bear cub. I expect to see him in the NFL.

Can we please put to rest the BS talent argument for losing games? Last night showed we can hit, block, run, cover, out duel, tackle, throw, and catch against top talent. Yes, the running game needs to improve and we need to build depth. That said, last nights loss was about a few coaching decisions and making a few more plays. We were right there.
Catch?! Really?! Sean Riley? N johnson?

We stopped LSU 3 times in the 2nd quarter with solid field position every time and did nothing.

The offense lost this game not the D.
The offense didn't wear down their defense until the fourth quarter, and that is what Babers said his game plan was.

The margin of error for this team is very small. We just do not have the talent to overcome the repeated mistakes.
Too many dropped passes.
The lack of a running game effectively spots the other team 7-10 points per game.
Still giving up too many big plays on D.
It's al fixable but I feel like we are still 1-2 years away before we can run with the big boys.
Enjoy the games.

One more stop and they punt and Dungey drives them down for the winning field goal. Sure, it would be nice to have USC's receiving corps and maybe someday they will, but either of those games could have been won ( IMO would have been won) if Clark hadn't been forced to leave the team.
Are you a real person?

Are you a real person?
Neither game was a blow out, one or to more plays on offense or defense would have resulted in wins. It is not that hard to see how close those ganes were. I knew when Clark got DQed it was factor on bowl eligibility.

Are you a real person?

He just tries to get a rise out of people. He even admitted that last year in the thread when he was the only one supporting Shafer for leaving Dungey in vs Louisville.

If the talent of Steven Clark was still on the field for SU instead of WMU, where he belongs, Syracuse would have won this game and probably the MTSU game as well.
Please.

I'm not trying to get a rise out of people. Coach Babers is trying to win and get the program a bowl, and these two winnable games will likely be the ones needed to make that goal.

This ranks up there with the UMass to the B1G.
Maybe you saw this, Rutgers to the B1G. I don't think anyone would have seen that coming, well maybe Nostradamus.

Talent includes the running game and the few plays we missed

Yup, agree, but every team leaves some plays, missed opportunities on the field. Point is, we aren't outclassed these days:)

What were the "few" coaching decisions? The only iffy one was the onside kick.

Yes, just the onside kick and just debatable play calls. But that's part of the game. The team was wonderfully prepared and talent wise, we went toe to toe.

We have talent but relatively to LSU, it was obvious that their players were significantly stronger and significantly faster. If it appeared that we could compete, that's due to Baber & Co for an effective scheme. Execution is partly on the players as much as it is on the coaches to prepare them.

He thinks Shafer's recruiting was better than it is.
The talent on roster is below teams in the Group of 6.

We haven't a had non punter drafted in the NFL draft since 2014 when Bromley and Sprull got drafted.

Look at that and say the talent was close.
LSU has 50 alumni players in the NFL. Syracuse has 7.

The talent was equal though.

Nope, never said equal, those are your words.

What??? How was it obvious their players were stronger and faster?

If he played RB, maybe.

The giant TE with WR speed who outran our DB was all talent. He was just faster and bigger.

We out coached them, we were better on D for about 75% of the plays. Speed and size won. It usually does.

This is spot on. It was obvious.

It's a good thing for Shafer that Dino decided to pursue his recruit Jo El-Shaw right.

It shows the previous knew what they were doing right.

Our talent is nowhere near that of LSU.

Wake Forest has more talent than we do.

Coach Lock' em up left a roster that is bottom 5 in the P5 in talent.

Babers overhauled the defensive personnel from last year.
