Taurean Thompson

Work was craaaaze the past two days so no TT thread for me until this morning. Glad to get my fix. I was starting to get the shakes yesterday afternoon along with dry mouth.

I even had a bizarro dream last night (truly) that PJ Carlesimo came back to Seton Hall. I don't remember much past that so I can't tell you what effect that had on TT's recruitment unfortunately. See what this thread is doing to me?!?! Just one more thing in my life that isn't healthy.

The Frankie Williams Charity Classic will take place tonight at Stepinac High School in White Plains. Tucker, Randolph, Green and Taurean are some of the players. Hopefully, a reporter or fan will be able to get something out of Taurean about his future.

Day 276 of TT Watch...

He's already physically more built and stronger than Lydon, Robey, and Moyer.

Hi Francis, love your podcasts! Anyone interested I highly recommend it: PodOmatic | Podcast - Otto's World Podcast

What are you thoughts on what is holding up TT? Also, I really do not like the PT argument for any kid choosing to play somewhere. My thinking is the competition for PT will make a kid a much better player. I think a kid with talent has to win the PT by playing well. What are you thoughts on PT going into a candidates decision?

Good point. Tyler Lydon was a freshman and he didn't have a problem with PT ;)

I can't get excited about TT. I know that he has recently had some great games. Maybe he is under-ranked, but maybe not. During his frosh year he is not going to have the body of a starting ACC PF. Even if he signs he might not be long for the Cuse. He is not going to get too much PT as a frosh. His Mom might go ballistic? What if he is recruited over? TT might be a future transfer. Not saying that he will but if he does there are a lot of people that will say that the writing was on the wall. I trust the staff that he is worth a scholly but if we do not land him I will not shed a tear. It is an insult for us to be in a recruiting battle with Seton Hall.
If his mother "goes ballistic" I hope she blows up on lift off.
Let the kid grow up and make his own decisions. Having said thatI think that if the kid EVER makes up his mind or her mind he players a bit more than you think. Unless the scouting on him is on the Kaleb Joseph side of the evaluation.

Thanks for checking out the pods. No clue on the holdup besides what I stated on page 67. The PT thing is something that he has to get over because no matter where he goes, he won't be stepping into a starters role. Seton Hall has two bigs returning that played around 30 minutes this past season, and another off the bench that played over 10 minutes. If he ends up at SU, then he's in a great position to log plenty of minutes in his sophomore year when Lydon, Robey, and DC2 are gone from the frontcourt.

That article reads like he's angry at someone (Mom) said how much he wants to commit. MSU doesn't seem like someone to worry about, unless they absolutely wow him.

Exact way I read that , like he could careless about msu but his mom wont let him commit until he visits. Wanted to be in summer session but isnt, hmmmm wonder why.

"It means I gotta go on another visit and then I'll commit right after" aka its been Cuse the whole time

I don't know if MSU is a threat but the timing makes you think he was holding out for their invite. I do think he's a bit frustrated he doesn't have a landing spot.

He wasn't holding out for any invite from MSU. The same quote he gave Zags about wanting to commit right now and get it over with, is the same thing he told several players on his last visit to SU. Mommy still doesn't want to sign off yet smh. Trust me, this kid doesn't want to go to SH or MSU.

If we look at what Michigan St will have in the post next season. They bring back a senior in Gavin Schilling, 5th year grad transfer Ben Carter, and top 50 incoming frosh Nick Ward. So he's not exactly stepping into an instant starting role there as well.

I love this take. I hope that's right. Maybe there hasn't been any apparent urgency by the staff because they are more than confident TT is going to wear Orange.

MSU is such a powerhouse program, so they can never be 100% discounted.
