Texas, Oklahoma reach out to the SEC

I don’t want either Cincinnati or WVU.
Your statement doesn’t account for that Swofford made a chit deal in 2010.
That necessitated the expansion to just get the payments back to solid.
Notre Dame had nothing to do with Swofford screwing the entire ACC with a bad deal so he could protect Raycom.

Swofford is responsible for the payouts for the ACC being terrible for ESPN to give more money they got a lot more years of control of ACC content.

But let’s praise Notre Dame because without them the ACC current deal is so much worse.
Bravo.

I would also point out that only ND football away games with ACC teams are part of the ESPN deal. Hard to imagine bball or Olympic sports move the needle so control of, let's say, all WVU football games vs. control of 2-3 ND games a year: what's the better deal for ESPN? Don't know but it's probably closer than we might think.

What is your worst case scenario? Play it out. Name names.

Who is in the B1G? Who is in the SEC?

If the ACC is breaking up then the SEC and B1G are going past 20 teams. So how does SU not at the very least round out the B1G?

Unless you think Notre Dame is getting left behind. Then we are stuck with them and BC. That would still be better than the Old Big East so not the end of the world.
The BT is not amenable to private schools. And the BT now is desperate to catch the SEC in football. Syracuse football is far from peak, and NY produces very few to players. I don't see the BT wanting Syracuse. I think that to try to catch the SEC, the BT will swallow that AAU fetish and offer both Clemson and FSU as well as try to squeeze ND in as it once squeezed ND out.

If the SEC tries to rob the Big 10, maybe Penn State and Maryland might want to look at the ACC. Those two along with ND would be my best hope for ACC expansion.
Why would the SEC care to take anything from the BT? Ohio St is not leaving, and I doubt that the SEC would want any of the rest.

People keep saying the GOR can be broken but there is absolutely no proof of this. Oklahoma and Texas both announced they would leave AFTER the GOR expires. The only way the GOR goes away is if the entire conference folds. That is exactly what ESPN was trying to do. They wanted the whole conference to dissolve because if there is no conference, then there is no GOR.

With that said, the ACC may not be in the greatest position currently. But nothing can happen for at least 14 years. It doesn’t really matter if Clemson and/or FSU want to leave. They CANT!!! Because even if 2-4 teams wanted to leave the ACC (say fox wants to get back at ESPN and requests Big Ten to go after some ACC schools) they can’t leave for 14 years because the conference would not dissolve!!! The ACC has time here. Nothing has to be decided today. Yes, it needs to be forward thinking to place itself in a good position but we have time on our side.

The merger with the Big Ten and PAC have no chance of Happening because of the companies they are in bed with. ESPN would never allow the ACC which they own completely to merge with the Big 10 or PAC which have contracts with FOX. Only explanation would be the PAC media deal expires in 2024. Would ESPN offer them a sweet deal to merge with the ACC? They then have 2 super confrences in SEC and ACC/PAC. Which leaves fox with only the Big Ten? but the PAC has always been buddy buddy with the Big Ten. Not sure what would have to happen to break up that relationship

in order of media deals.

PAC 12- expires 2024 and I don’t believe has a GOR

ACC- 2036, GOR expires 2036

Big 12- 2025, GOR expires 2025 unless Conference dissolves

SEC- expires 2032, No GOR, but no one is leaving.

Big Ten- expires 2024, same year as the PAC. Don’t believe has a GOR.

ND- NBC deal expires 2025

Bottom line, ESPN has ACC by the balls with that contract. Signed through 2036. Big ten could be on their 3rd contract by then. SEC will be on their 3rd contract as well. Glad the ACC has a new commissioner. Hopefully he does better then his predecessor.

The GOR is the friend of weak conference members. SU is very lucky that the ACC has a GOR for 15 more years.

Not saying that we would be invited on this go around. But if I’m not mistaken. When we joined the ACC, the Big 10 had approached us and discussed expansion with us but we picked the ACC due to the fit (private school and locations). I can’t seem to find the article but I believe the AD discussed after the fact in one of his random press conferences. Anyone remember this? Or am I making something up?

I agree, I think it’s pretty telling the only conferences that have/had one is the Big 12 and the ACC. The other big conferences don’t need one or don’t feel threatened because of how much money they make. But the ultimate point is. No ACC team is going anywhere until after 2036.

The worst case scenario for us is North Carolina, Duke. Virginia Tech, Virginia, Florida state, Clemson, Georgia Tech leave the conference for either the Big Ten or SEC some of them going to each conference and the remainder of the ACC and big 12 leftovers have to merge into form a super American type of conference.

For that to happen then ND is not going anywhere. If you believe ND goes to the B1G AND the ACC dies off then we have a home. It is just math.

If the B1G didn't care about AAU then Texas and Oklahoma would be moving there instead of the SEC. If the B1G takes FSU, Clemson, and Notre Dame then they are at 23 teams. They might as well go to 26 at that point by adding SU, Miami, and BC.

That being said I don't see the B1G taking FSU and Clemson.

No. You're a guest on a Syracuse board.

Act like it.

Ok, I hate to be that guy but you’re doing it wrong. This is how elevate the experience. Get the shake extra thick with the chocolate peanut butter ice cream and not chocolate with the syrup. IMO

I've had it both ways. I find them both equally as good if made right. The key is not too much peanut butter to overwhelm the chocolate.

I believe we were talking with the B1G. Had we not accepted the ACC invite maybe we are in the B1G right now. Or maybe we don't get the invite and we replace MD in the ACC when they left. Or maybe we are left behind in the AAC. Not worth the risk, but in some alternate universe we might be in the B1G right now.
