The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

oooo, another thread that several Rutgers players, including Carroo, have been suspended for curfew violations. Will miss first half of Norfolk St. game.

I am impressed that teh accusations made public already do NOT include verbal or physical abuse. Quite an improvement from Rutgers. Still as messed up as can be as can be but an improvement nonetheless.

"Let me start by saying I'm disappointed at the tone of the article that (associate athletic director for media relations/football) Hasim (Phillips) showed me this morning," Flood said. "I've been the head coach now, this is going into my fourth season, and I've had a lot of interaction with the teachers on our campus. I think that that article not only insults my integrity, but insults the integrity of our faculty. I've come to realize that our faculty here at Rutgers is beyond reproach and I have a tremendous amount of respect for them."

Flood did not specifically address the investigation, but offered an explanation for his correspondence with a professor.

"Our faculty are part of our program," Flood said. "Just as recently as the other day, we had two faculty members at our practice. Now, any correspondence that I had with a professor in regard to a student-athlete would really be of this nature: One, to be in support of whatever decision that faculty member made, and two, to inquire as to whether or not there would be an opportunity to earn a better grade. Now, this practice is not unusual at Rutgers. Many students all over campus receive what are called 'T grades' doing work outside of when the class ends that semester to earn a better grade."

Flood did not take any questions. After making his statement he went to practice.

How dare you? Do you know who I am?

I will say this, though, if I'm going down, I'm taking others with me!

Ha! That's pure garbage. They are not apart of your program. That's like honey to the NCAA.

I'm claiming ignorance in regards to this Freedom of Information Act. Even though he's a public employee, does it make a difference that it was his private email?
Was he stupid enough to send it on his .edu email?

They are, really ?

Have you looked into whether or not any of them has any eligibility left ? That could be a huge boon talent wise for your program.

Are SU fans really denegrating another program about academic shenanigans?

How could you be in support of the faculty member's grading decision but at the same time questioning how you might change that grading decision ?

I completely support your decision to fire me but wonder if you might hire me.

You're drawing a straight line - but our coaches didn't contact the teacher directly. We went through the proper channels. Our proper channels just sucked.

From the article quoted above:

Flood allegedly sent from a personal account to a faculty member at the university's Mason Gross School of Arts regarding the status of Nadir Barnwell.

That was part of JB's argument. He commented that he was not allowed to contact Melo's professor or directly get involved, yet he was the one being penalized. As I understand it, the chain-of-command for academic compliance went through Kissle and Gross, not JB.
