We only got 1 player in the class of 2021.
Sidibe and Dolezaj are seniors so we had room for 2 players that class.

Class of 2022
We need a bigger class.
For next year

Centers
Jon Bol Ajok- rSo
Frank Ansalem Soph
Jessie Edwards- Junior

Forwards
Alan Griffin Senior
Quincy Guerrier- Junior
Robert Braswell rJunior
Woody Newton- Soph
Benny Williams- Freshman

Guards
Buddy Boeheim Senior
Joe Girard Junior
Kadary Richmond Soph
Chaz Owens Soph

That is 12 scholarships for next year with Buddy a senior and likely atleast forward Alan or Quincy not on the team. One of the bigs might leave as well but I won’t project.

Which means we have room for a 3 or 4 commit class in 2022.

We need guards and big.

This class has gotten off a rocky start losing Gayle and Johnson.

We need a great class. If the staff doesn’t pull off a top 25 class for 2022 then we are looking at a decade of mediocre regular seasons.

Copeland
Taylor
Rodgers
Huntley-Hatfield or Riley or Donovan

that would be an ideal class. Think we have a very good shot with Copeland, Taylor and Rodgers would even go on a limb and say we might be the favorite for all 3 right now but recruiting is very fluid. On the other hand the bugs worry me. We have a legit shot with Riley but need to beat out Iowa which is going to be TOUGH. Donovan is going to be a tough pull as well but he’s a stud. I think we are definitely in his top 3 but I don’t think we are 1 right now. Huntley-Hatfield is a tough read, we have a legit shot with him, that I know but tough to read exactly where we are among his other top schools. I feel much more confident about landing the guards and forwards in this class than the big guys, but isn’t that just typical Cuse recruiting? Lol

Haven’t had a decent recruiting class since 2016, and even that was not good by what had become Syracuse standards. Not going to get my hopes up for a top 35 class especially considering whats already come and gone for 2022.

If we miss out on folks, don't be surprised we go the Griff route to land some folks. I know JB isn't the biggest fan of that path, but he isn't above it.

With the exception of Gene Thrope, the transfer/grad transfer has worked out well recently

I'm curious to see what Frank does next season and that could be a problem. If he's ok as a starting C, then SU isn't recruiting Clingan or BHH over him.

I think there are more openings that are coming. No inside info, but that's how things have gone over the past few years.

It's really gross that Edwards may burn his Soph season with 48 total mins played. Thank god for Covid rules and being allowed an extra year if he wants.

arent these all off by a yr since everyone gets the yr back? if no one leaves we only have room for 1 more.

or maybe you mean thats what they will be in 22-23?

I am putting their academic year.
These kids aren’t staying just to stay.
I bet we lose atleast 2 players beyond Sidibe and Marek for next year.

that would not surprise me..

But I dont think Buddy or Joe go anywhere. and hope not Kadary for 22-23.
Griffin i doubt is still here
Quincy Ehh?
of the 3 centers shocked if we still have 2.

No idea on the forwards though.

Kadary already did a post HS prep year. No way he is sticking around for more than two years.

It's very possible this could be our roster next year, which would be tragic and hilarious, but would simplify the math for JB's rotation:

Edit: added probability to leave after this season.

Centers
Frank Ansalem Soph (10%)
Jessie Edwards- Junior (25% - would be much higher if Marek didn't get in foul trouble recently)

Forwards
Benny Williams- Freshman (10% G-league comes calling)

Guards
Buddy Boeheim Senior (0.0%)
Kadary Richmond Soph (5% - might still be irked by JGIII starting over him)

Leaving:
Alan Griffin - Europe (60% - I think he viewed this year as a pro audition)
Quincy Guerrier- Europe (90% - he's already old and needs to start earning $)
Marek - Europe (90% - not much more for him to accomplish here)
Joe Girard - Transfer to midmajor or Ivy (50% - sees handwriting on the wall)
Jon Bol Ajok- Transfer (50% - he'll always be a backup to the backup here)
Robert Braswell - Transfer (50% - he almost left last year)
Woody Newton- Transfer (80% - JB's doghouse)
Sid - graduate/rehab/Europe? (80% - needs to look for a career that doesn't require knees)

Sure FrancoPizza, Syracuse going to have 5 active players on the roster next year... thanks for that delightful insight

"Very possible"
Yes, we will lose all eight players (eye roll)
Then JAB can talk all season about how none of the 14 walk-ons are ready to contribute.
