The real dilemma would be next year..

I had great seats didn’t even go and after holiday weekend was hard to find anybody to take them. That said, had more free tickets offered to me today. It’s pretty depressing honestly.
THIS...is what will bring change sooner rather than later.
It's all about the Benjamins...even with a coach who has 44 years of tenure.
An empty Dome would be a problem that has to be fixed.
Quickly.

It is true and common knowledge.
Speculation...in its purist form. unless you have written a paper that I am not aware of with sources...of course.

I will let you all read about how perfect Cal is...from his own website.

In a unrelated note I have some beachfront property in Nebraska that I am willing to sell you for half price...

Jake, it is over. This is 2002 in Football terms.

We've been spoiled as a fan base. We had not landed on the Moon yet when the last SU team was this bad. JB needs to do the right thing.
I agree with Jake he has a grace year after so long. Hoops is not football , even if things are bad you can turn things over with one good class.

ACC TV money is pretty good money for a private university. Plus JAB has made this school a few boatloads of money in 44 years. It's hard to believe how easy that gets dismissed. The school survived the post Coach P days and will survive this.

Eventually? Sure. How many years it will take is a different question.

Depends how many more years on the transition. But as others have alluded to it can be done a lot quicker than football. Billy Donovan took over Florida in 1996-97 and had a record of 13-17 his first year and three seasons later was National Champion runner up and then six years later he won back to back. Jay Wright in his 11th season at Nova went 13-19. The next season he won 20 games and four years later he won the NC.

With the right hire, Cuse could have another NC by 2025. We have the dome, we have the ACC, we will have a young energetic coach. We just need to be patient.

JB has earned a mulligan year after 44 years coaching here. The real difficult decision is what do you do if we have back to back losing seasons with no end in sight, and Buddy entering his Sr. year.

I just fear this could get really ugly.
I don't want jb to have bitterness at the end. You know he's a proud guy who remembers being slighted. I don't want the end here to feel like a slight to him but I'm very scared he'll leave the school no choice

Or maybe he doesn't and that's why he's not playing. Southerland was essentially a 7th or 8th man until his 4th year in the program and that was with a much more talented rotation in front of him that helped him to suceed in that role until he was ready to assume more of the burden. We have a lot of guys that need to be playing support roles, unfortunately there is no one on the roster for them to support so they all need to step up into more prominent roles that they simply aren't talented enough to thrive in at this point in their development, if ever.

JB has been making adjustments, albeit small ones... For instance, only Hughes played more than 30 minutes last night. Very possible that all the frantic suggestions we throw out really aren't solutions or even improvements, just different.

I think this is simply a poor collection of players and there is no way to fix it, short of signing some free agent walk-ons.

I'm confused where all the love for Braswell is coming from. Sure, he can knock down a 3 here and there and I do agree it'd be nice to see him get some minutes, even if it's just 5-10 before we're down 20. But he's being made out to be a superb athlete, which I don't think he is, since he was a high jumper in HS. His agility does not look good and he's got such a poor body to handle playing too many minutes. He's thin and lacks muscle. But spot minutes, yeah I'd like to see that.

Southerland was a much better athlete and could run like a deer, even though he was a bit upright and stiff in his movements. He was also bigger and more capable of providing an impact outside of the occasional 3. Of course, he didn't play much early on for a reason.

I fully agree that this is just poor group of players with very little talent. JB doesn't make many adjustments, but I don't think anything he could try would actually amount to much here. Running a new system isn't happening, so what exactly can be done?

Sure... and
“I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
And a six four Impala“

Unless the next Carmelo comes in 2021, it’s getting close to it.

You realize the APR is all about players just showing they are on track to graduate.
It means getting kids to go to class.
They can leave after one year and the APR is fine. As long as the kids go to class and manage their workload.

Managing the APR means having a pulse of your players and not completely leaving them along to screw up. Kentucky has 4-5 kids leave each year and they have no APR issues because their coach manages it with employees.

Jim Boeheim is as laid back a players coach as their is. He lets his players have a longer rope and that Paul Harri/Donte Green year kids didn’t go to class and it ended up screwing our APR.

That is on him.
We shouldn’t even need the walkons to boost the APR that was JB doing right by those kids and getting the benefit in the same breathe.

JB runs a loose ship.
You gleefully disparage Coach Boeheim's reputation on a daily basis. Someday you will regret this.

If being consistent is gleefully disparage the coach then you might have a point.
My god.
Please tell us how the officials are screwing us because we are new to this conference and we are just a cash cow for the conference in football.

I think Jim Boeheim should be held to a fair standard. I defend when it’s appropriate and criticize when it’s warranted. He is PAID unlike the players who aren’t. In college sports the coaches are the ones who should take the legitimate criticism as they are getting paid.
You are a sycophant. I am not.

Guilty. I am a sycophant of the greatest coach of all-time who's greatness as far as wins and championships was only limited by politically driven NCAA attacks. I am 100% on his side until he decides to step down.

Wow , that’s clever

God bless you. You be you. I will be me.
I root for Syracuse. I support our teams.
Jim Boeheim is a HOF and legend but the program is on the decline. It’s unlikely to change till we get a new coach.

Wow , that’s clever
I thought so... anyways no offense but what gives you any hope of a program changing class coming through the door at any point in the next two seasons?

at this rate I’d be shocked if anyone from the class of 2021 even commits to Syracuse.

Watching Jimmy, I think he is a lot more athletic than Buddy. I just think he could be an experienced role player coming in.
Did you watch him play defense? You probably didn’t see it because he can‘t guard anyone.

They are putting over 100 million into the dome. The school can't afford for him to stick around to the point only 12000 people are purchasing tickets.
With a cold brutal winter it’s entirely possible actual butts in seats will hit that number in ACC play.

He's just not...

Dear Lord. One championship in all these years isn't close to greatest of all time.

Call me crazy but Boeheim and Wildhack will create a graceful exit whenever that is. No long term damage will occur if it’s this year or in 3. Calm down everyone.

it’s never as bad as it looks or as good. I’m in the camp of let this end gracefully because Jim has given the school as much as anyone not named Carnegie, Newhouse, Whitman etc.

Season is a struggle for sure. Welcome to normalcy. Usually programs find a trough of sorts. At least our coach isn’t walking away and letting Gaudet take the losses.

Let’s give JB a lifetime contract if it doesn’t matter if this last 3 more years.
NKR1978 actually put the numbers on the board
Since we joined the ACC we are
135-80.
That is 6 years total and the 7th year of 4-4 from this year.
If you want to give JB 2 more years AFTER this year we are looking at 9 years of mediocrity.
Next year’s roster doesn’t look better and recruiting for that class is done unless we magically get involved with one of the uncommitted 5 stars we aren’t involved with now.

Jim Boeheim deserves a soft ending but not 2 more years after this year.

We had Bazley but the sneaker companies tampered with him to make sure he didn't go to Syracuse, a school who was not involved in funneling money from those companies to the recruits in their pay to play scheme. That's what the 5 star guys get from the "blue bloods".
