I never was a big fan of Bud's writing style, but I couldn't agree more.

You mean a style like this?

Gazing at the calendar nowadays, sub-freezing temperatures, wind and snow in our little burg has been as commonplace and consistent as the good folk here trekking through the elements, transcending upon a blustery Hill in route to a cavernous fortress, where once inside, their hearts bleed Orange. However, now this reliable and beloved Orange has grown faint, to a pantone unrecognizable in these parts. ;):)

I hear some people say recruiting is Dow the drain. I don’t follow as close as others but didn’t JG3 have a Duke offer, wasn’t Goodine a top 75 , and as for Guerrier , I think he is going to be very good . I like everybody else am frustrated at the lack of legit big man in the middle but recruiting classes have not been bad. We’re not getting top 25 guys, So aren’t a lot of really good programs.

JG3 would not be starting at duke. We don't care about those other programs.. We need to do better

not all offers are equal, some are commitable, some aren't, some may require a redshirt season or a prep year.

Also rankings have multiple components, so just off the ranking number, it's hard to know why players are ranked where they rank. For example, super athletes, with some size and with marginal basketball skills could be ranked fairly high in the anticipation that the basketball skill can be developed resulting in a fantastic player. Or someone with ideal size and strength and some basketball skills, may be a marginal athlete compared to other players. Players with good combinations across the board are going to have top-20 or better rankings.

Sure Girard may have had an offer from Duke, to become a rotational piece somewhere in the next few years. He'd be getting 3 mins a game if not redshirting. Instead he's here and getting 30mpg and shooting a blazing 20.5% from the field against P5 opponents.

Our recruiting classes are mid-lower end of the ACC therefore we are mid-lower end of the ACC. It's a fairly straightforward concept to grasp except everyone on here still thinks that every single recruit that we get is a steal and underrated yet we are in a stretch of losing more games than at any point of Cuse bball history.

Exactly!

Only time I go is when I get freebies, and there ain't no way I'm spending my limited time to see this product.
I have become what I loathed about the Syracuse denizens: a consumer, rather than a fan. I don't know that I will venture to the Dome again, and I am thinking I won't be watching games unless they turn around.
I am already at the point with FB, where if they aren't playing well in the 1st qtr, I move on. I will check back in from time to time, but more dieharding for this guy.

Had a conversation with one of my close friends yesterday who also was my roommate for 2 years up on the hill and he thinks the fans need to be loud as possible about Boeheim retiring to basically force the issue with the Admin. It sounds unfair, but that's the best way of forcing change.
LOL. What a millennial idea. Let's complain until we get what we want. Wildhack is not going to force Boeheim out because the crowd get after him. I get people are frustrated and I am too but Boeheim is not going until he wants to go.

Yep, coach

Yep Coach K is always wasting scholarships on guys He thinks are going to play 3 minutes a game.

Yeah, he does to develop some upper classmen depth to supplement all of the 1 and done guys. You'd have to be a moron to think that Girard would play any minutes over Tre Jones. So either you are and want to think Girard was going to play big minutes instantly at Duke or he was bringing him in as a developmental piece for down the line.

K was trolling SU when he got that kid to flip late who got buried on the bench and transferred.

Let’s try again, Coach K doesn’t give scholarships to guys that he doesn’t think can play. Period

Honestly don’t know who you are talking about.

Ok, so you do think that Joe Girard would be getting minutes at Duke this year? That's the story? He's getting 28.3 at Syracuse, 1 of 4 guys getting 28+. Duke has 1 getting that many and it's the guy that plays his same position. That's Tre Jones at 34.3, so that leaves 5.7 for a backup PG. Pretty unlikely he gets those minutes given that Jordan Goldwire has been the backup PG for 2 years and has 60 games of experience. So please let me know where he was playing this year for Duke? He really going to cut into the minutes of a guy that will likely be 1st team All-American?

Guilty. I am a sycophant of the greatest coach of all-time who's greatness as far as wins and championships was only limited by politically driven NCAA attacks. I am 100% on his side until he decides to step down.

And most of us are glad you're not the AD.

He may have not played a single quality minute, let’s try to get to my point. Duke doesn’t recruit guys that K doesn’t think can play. If your argument is he got on the floor quicker at SU then he would have at Duke then , yea nobody would argue.

I’m pretty sure we don’t land Marek if Tucker committed to cuse.

I'm not sure if the team would be better or worse. Tucker at 37% from 3 would have led our team last year. Being able to space the floor would have been nice though that doesn't seem to really matter given we don't run any kind of offensive system.

I hope for anyone that loves SU hoops, this thread/s age really badly

Goodine, Hughes, Braswell, Guerrier, Sid.

Marek, Buddy, and Girard to the bench.

It would never happen, but I like the thought process.

We need more athleticism in the lineup.
That's why I was hoping we could start Goodine and Carey at guard this year, use Buddy as the designated zone buster off the bench, and start Guerrier with Hughes at forward.

With Carey injured, and the season collapsing, your lineup would be worth a shot for a few games.

Next year’s recruiting is pretty much done across college basketball.
We aren’t going to get any of the 5 star talent that wait.
The talent in that class is pretty much locked up.

Who is going to get pushed out?
Carey is going to leave but that isn’t a guy we should want to leave.
I have said if JB made Buddy a walk-on and paid for him to Come to school that would cost him about 50k at most and could be repaid with a contract bonus made up that would open up a scholarship.

Who has confidence this staff would even find a player to help next year?
I honestly don’t have confidence in them and that is because they all do what the Hc wants.
Autry I am guessing could challenge stuff but who knows if he does and what it would do.

We aren’t going to have a big next year who can help. If we are going to run people off why the hell did we take a recruit in JBA who can’t even play this year and is a project. The management of this roster is completely on Jim Boeheim. We need big help and he recruits a big who can’t even play in emergencies this year and has to redshirt to learn the college game.

Do you believe magically JBA will be able to even play next year?

Who was it who was so enamored of JBA at the end of his recruitment, saying he was our top choice all along but had a knee injury his junior year? We saw 10 second highlight clips in an empty gym that were promising, and he can make a 3 when he's left alone. But in the preseason games, he was simply lost, looking around like a catcher in baseball who lost sight of a foul ball.

Where are the huzzahs and the ramrods? You need at least one of those for it to be truly representative of Pud Boliquin.

Syracuse is running the same offensive motion offense that just about everybody else is running. Maybe not running them as well but there is no great difference to what we run against Man to man and what other teams are doing.
