We need smart trees.
I heard the evacuation area is within 100 miles form the coast and Winston-Salem is more like 300 miles.
You folks in the South need better trees suited for the environment...The wind and rain from a hurricane can extend far inland depending on where it lands. And as C Bomb posted there has been a large amount of rain recently so it becomes more likely for the pine trees that grow everywhere down here and have a very shallow root system to fall over from strong wind.
