There was talk from ACC officials of moving the game to Sunday if weather was going to be an issue.

We need smart trees.

I heard the evacuation area is within 100 miles form the coast and Winston-Salem is more like 300 miles.

The wind and rain from a hurricane can extend far inland depending on where it lands. And as C Bomb posted there has been a large amount of rain recently so it becomes more likely for the pine trees that grow everywhere down here and have a very shallow root system to fall over from strong wind.

You folks in the South need better trees suited for the environment...

The High School football games in the Triad, Greensboro/Winston-Salem, are being moved to Thursday night.

This is from the Winston-Salem channel last night.

Matthew's impacts could be severe on NC coast, less so in Triad

North Carolina's impacts from Matthew are expected to begin along the coast Friday with rain and increasing winds. The Triad's biggest impacts are expected to be felt Friday night into Saturday.

Winds of 30-50 mph are possible along the coast, while Triad gusts could reach up to 35 mph. Coastal counties could get 5-10 inches of rain on top of an already saturated ground, leading to flooding, while less than an inch of rain could fall in the Triad.

Game looks to be in no danger of being postponed, right? All the models seem to indicate the worst of the storm will stay on the coast instead of heading inland tonight into tomorrow. Is the team already down there?

The team is coming down today. And the forecast has been for rain and 15-35 mph winds for tomorrow night. It's already raining today. Going to be a wet, muddy field.

Looks like 31% chance of rain at 7:00 PM and 1% at 8:00 PM. Winds 10 mph.
