Toledo Series

In addition to Toledo, Notre Dame and New Hampshire are also visiting the Dome in the 2026 non-conference slate, as well as ACC foes Clemson, Cal, Louisville and SMU. The Orange will face UConn, North Carolina, Boston College, Virginia and Pitt on the road.

Confirms that ND is a home game in 26, been rumored for about 3 years now.

7 home games. Mission accomplished for that season at least

I am glad SU is sticking to its guns on this, As best I can determine, Notre Dame still thinks the 2026 Syracuse game is at Notre Dame. The fbschedules web site just changed things so that game is now listed at SU (in one place anyway).

Not a huge fan of playing Toledo. It’s one of the hardest MAC locations for SU fans in upstate NY to drive to. Toledo is one of the strongest schools in the conference. And I’m not really excited about visiting Toledo.

I would be much happier playing Buffalo, Akron, or Kent. And I would feel a lot better about things if this was a three game series with two in Syracuse.

That said, I understand we can’t offer a big guarantee like some of the other P5 schools can to,get buy games for MAC schools. Maybe we could offer to play these schools in basketball in the dome to help make a two for one series happen?

I was just in Toledo this week for Hockey and saw the Mudhens stadium. We were thinking might be nice to see a game there but why would I be there,

From syracuuse 6.5 hrs . simple drive. only a hr more than going to boston

I can't believe you are talking about Toledo like that. Cpl Klinger will not be happy

Plus you can drive straight through Cleveland without stopping, which is recommended.

What happened to the ACC ban on G5 road games?

And we couldn’t get a 2 for 1?

I bet we waited too long and ran out of options. Why does this seem to happen so often?

If we are going to play a MAC road game I prefer Akron, Kent, UB, UMass which are all closer.

2026 is some schedule. Good home slate and 5 easy road trips. Which brings up the point, SU has to push to split BC/Pitt.

Also whose bright idea was to have a UConn road game the same year we play at BC and at Pitt?

eh, this one isn't SU's fault... I believe they were booked through 2026, but Army backing out by joining a conference added the road UNLV game, reconfiguring the UConn series and a vacancy in 2026 that they had to fill with Toledo.

Toledo got to negotiate with SU knowing they were in a pinch, so they probably got the home and home that way, similar to how UNLV got the home game last year.

2026 isn’t far enough in the first place.

Army had to drop 8 schools from future schedules, there should have been options the last 18 months.

I just looked this up, because I love this stuff.

Army wasn't fully scheduled out to 2026 when they made the move, so they didn't have a full slate of options.

For 2024 - The other schools they dropped were Wake (can't play - ACC), Dartmouth (can't play second FCS), UConn (already scheduled), UNLV (who we played), Rice and UMass... Given those options and what UNLV turned into, that seemed like the best call.

For 2026, they've canceled Buffalo (which actually would have made sense for us), Liberty (recent opponent with some negative political side drama), UMass (no thank you), Marshall and Coastal Carolina.

Plus, I have no idea what dates those teams had available.

What are you saying?

By the time we got around to sorting things out, the other 7 schools had already sorted their situations??

I would hope we weren't on the back foot.

nothing says 2029 wont be changing things up by then anyway. next yr was the issue and we fixed that, 5 yrs from now who knows

Driving, I agree. But flying into Detroit, it's an easy hour south. They've got decent hotels, good museums, Cedar Point's not too far away and it's home to Corporal Klinger's favorite restaurant, Tony Packo's.
