I heard he doesn’t need surgery m, that’s good.

what this about some transfer rumors I’m hearing. He potentially has 2 years left

Leaving a Coach who handed him a D1 QB1 role? That wouldn’t be cool, at all. Hopefully it’s just rumor.

Regardless of if he stays or not, we need to bring in a transfer QB. TD has never had any competition since ED was done. He’s been handed the position and needs someone breathing down his neck if he’s going to improve.

Anyone else remember going into the ‘18 season when Dino was trying to hand TD the keys then? Opening game WMU came back to within one TD of us in the second half and thankfully Dino decided to stick with ED from there on out. That whole situation was still a head scratcher to me.

This is one of those situations where you wish the player had a parent on the board so you could get the real story. But oh well.

Here's the evolution of the TD transfer rumors.

"Everyone would be better off if he just transferred. He needs to find a better situation and we need a dual threat QB." >>>> "If I were TD, I'd transfer somewhere with a decent oline, so I could show off my arm." ----- Somewhere in the midst of this his dad mentions he is on track to graduate this year ------- >>>> "If he's threatening to transfer, I say good riddance." >>>> "So, since TD is gonna transfer, what do we look like at QB next year?"

99% of what his dad has said has pointed to him coming back. All of the TD transferring stuff has been like the telephone game that you play as a kid.

I think it would be best for both parties if Tommy transferred next year. Dino has to go out and find a duel threat guy to fill the gap next year. Tommy needs to go find an O Line where he can showcase his talents as well.

I think we’ll be tangibly better next year if he comes back, and it would be great to see him lead a team to a bowl.

IMHO, this site will do backflips on DB (again). We (collectively) aren’t good at NOT overreacting.

Do you think? 1/3rd of this board will say we have once again turned the corner if we go 6-6 and bowling. Let's get TD healthy. Hopefully the staff let's him listen in on a headset and observe from both the sidelines and the booth. That would be informative for him. Let's get a normal offseason in with lots of reps and practice. Let's get Lamson and a transfer in. By seasons end hopefully one of our two of our freshman QBs took some snaps.

That’s why I’m posting. I heard he was here and I couldn’t find his post(s)

And another 1/3 will somehow attempt to tie the success to the prior staff's recruits.

Tommy probably IS a great kid. And on paper, he looks like he ought to be a great quarterback. But lots of kids pass the look test and just don't pan out. And in Tommy's defense, the offensive lines he's worked with have been patchwork MAC level lines at best. It's a classic chicken and egg thing, but I think we all with this young man the best and we certainly all wish he'd turn into the next Trevor Lawrence. These past 2 years have been Gerg-level brutal as a fan of over 40 years.

I hope he comes back stronger than ever from his injury and quite frankly lights it up for Syracuse University. Young man has been nothing but a great representative of Syracuse University Football and from what I see with my own eyes and hear from sources is that he is a model teammate. I wish Gilbert would have called some of the plays that he did against Liberty when DeVito was still healthy. Look I realize DeVito has quarterback flaws and needs to improve, but I also know that his offensive coordinators and offensive line have done him absolutely no favors in his time as the starting quarterback. Young man does not remind me of the type of person who shies away from competition so I hope Lamson is as advertised and Syracuse does bring in a transfer and that lights the competitive fire under DeVito to become what we all thought he would be and what I think he is still capable of. News flash to all, whoever the quarterback is needs competent pieces around them to be successful and that falls directly on Dino Babers and his staff. Go Orange!!!!!!!!!!

if he stays or goes, i wish him the absolute best. to be a big time recruit and to pick Syracuse means...something.

I do think the position needs a major infusion of talent. A graduate coming in to help with the depth is absolutely necessary. I'm fine with splitting the reps at the position as well ala Brady/Henson if it means multiple looks, keeping guys fresh, etc.

We seem to get destroyed at the position health wise now. I was wondering, did McNabb, Nunes, Mason, Graves, McPherson, ever miss a game due to an injury. It tells me that P was an incredible recruiter of offensive line talent and kept his QBs fresh OR we have injury proned QBs of late.

Well, if this year is a free one, you had 3 to play 2 and a free transfer portal into next year and the coach who recruited you and the current OC might be gone after one more season, maybe not such a crazy decision.

Watch TD transfer to Rutgers. Hope not for I still have faith in this kid.
