To be fair to Tommy the fact Dino had a HS coach from Texas (who was his in law) as our QB position coach was a joke.
Exhibits A & B. Poor staffing (or so it seems to me from the outside) - the QB coach, and Cavanaugh at OL. They've both since been corrected, but maybe should not have happened in the first place.

I just hope we’re spared all the look at me Instagram posts about which SEC schools want to offer our transfer.

I’m actually super interested to see who offers and hope he posts every one of them, so I can track. A lot of arm chair football coaches (myself included) said Tommy isn’t a D1 QB, it will be interesting to see what D1 coaches disagree.

Actually 3. UGA had a pick 6.
Not saying Shrader had a good game throwing the ball but , the 4th Q he threw the strike to Pena and then the 3rd and 4th down throws with the game on the line on the last drive. I believe these close games will start going our way …soon. GS doesn’t scare. Note he got drilled on the Pena TD.

He's a gamer and a competitor with obvious limitations throwing the football at this point. We were up against an elite defense, we had a kick to send it into OT and it was missed. laces out would have been nice as opposed to trying to send a Phil Niekro knuckleball through the uprights but I am not going to scream and yell etc. Just beyond it. If we were running out a team devoid of talent and effort then yeah I would be more concerned and yeah I know it's year 6 etc etc.

Any kid who has tried to kick a ball like that knows what can happen. I learned that at say age 10.

Not me. It smacks too much of look at how much better I’m doing than you losers I’m leaving behind. And in the end transfers to that caliber program rarely if ever happen anyway.

well also to be fair (and in hindsight I hated the Martin hire) but it's not uncommon for coaches to make the jump from big time HS football to D1. It just didn't work out for us and unfortunately QB coach is sort of important.

And SU had to have some things go really wrong to get the 14.. we threw a real bad pass for a pick on first down. We missed a FG. And we had a QB get his finger stuck in a helmet as we entered the red zone to stop another drive.

I'm not "implying" anything- far be it for me to accuse folks of something based on conjecture. But there is a term for what I feel is happening here. It's the same pre-disposed notion that certain kids are "lunch pail", "gritty", "gutty", "wily", and "get the most from their abilities", while others are "prima donnas", "naturally gifted", and "lack a sense of focus". As fans we've been party to these dog-whistles for years and it would not surprise me in the least if some of these comments are not coming from that particular place.
Implicit bias is real, and I think we should all step back and dissect what and why we're posting certain narratives, and get real w/ ourselves. JMHO
I forgot-It was Devito who threw frequent tantrums during games and put up his middle finger to the cameras. Devito handled several difficult situations with class, Taj's behavior was often the opposite of class. While people were disappointed when Jarveon put his name in the portal, I don't remember people having a similar reaction as they did to Taj. I know in today's environment everything is about race, but that has zero to do with anything and the accusation is offensive.

All for the best. Kent State's starting QB is done after this year.

A HS coach from Texas coming to Central NY isnt likely to do very well long term. It just isnt a good fit

Exactly. Anyone who can’t see that the situations are completely opposite is either intellectually dishonest or blinded by the lens they force themselves to view everything through. TD was a class act, Taj wasn’t. It really is as simple as that. Some people might not like the optics of it, but it really is as simple as that. Every individual adult is responsible for their own behavior, including the fan fallout.

Good luck to Tommy Devito. Unfortunately he struggled with Awareness and Decision Making. He had a rocket of an arm but he never understood how to go through his progressions quickly without hesitation and trusting that decision making. I hope our QB coaches worked with him on progressions by calling out numbers where to go while simulating pressure but who knows. Either way, Shrader is a gamer and happy to have him

Hurts finished the season. DeVito literally gains nothing leaving now. If he doesn’t announce before the ending of the season I don’t get it.
He could have gone into the portal then finished this season.

I don’t get leave midseason he wasn’t suspended like Harris.

IDK if we fully know that. I think him leaving early gets his a head start on a possible offer and enrolled in a different school for Winter/Spring training.

As I said in wishing Taj good luck, good luck to Tommy. Honestly, hope he lands somewhere that makes him happy and gives him a shot to succeed.

BTW, feel that way about Taj, too.

Now, with that said, let's hope Shrader can stay healthy and can't wait to see the competition for our #2 for next year.

Best of luck to him. That said, it’s best we clean up the locker room. I’m okay with Tommy, Taj, and Jarveon leaving.

We didn’t win a whole lot with them, and let’s let the younger guys take over. We are far more competitive right now thank we ever were the last two years.

Rip off the bad aid.
What’s disappointing is all 3 of those guys played key roles and contributed to the 2018 team’s success as freshmen.

They would’ve projected, back then, as guys who could lead us to far more success as upperclassmen than they did.

Ok first good luck kid. Hope you do great somewhere else.

second am I the only one who could care less now? With the commoditization of athletics there is absolutely no loyalty or commitments to either party. If people want it like this (which is fine) that the fanbase won’t be as invested as they once were. My love for 5 over his 4 years here doesn’t even compare to how I feel with TD.

Bob Seger said it best…. “I used her, she used me and neither one cared…we were gettin our share.”

Great statement by Dino. Sometimes things just don't work out.
It’s just crazy to get up in arms, people that don’t play or get benched are going to leave, it’s the new normal.

Watching the sideline the night, when Tommy was starting, Shrader was warming up like every series….getting in coach’s ear about getting in the game. Friday night, DeVito just stood the on the sidelines, didn’t even have his helmet with him. If the roles were reversed, you would have needed a dog to keep Shrader from trying to get on the field. But Tommy may have known there’s no chance to get in so why make a case. It was definitely an odd vibe, that now makes sense.
Maybe his reps in practice were shifted to one (or more) of the other QB's over the last couple of weeks?
