Tourney Selection Show Observations

Colorado State RPI 30, DENIED

Where is Temple as well? Temple houses Kansas at home. Texas loses twice to Kansas. Georgetown as a 4 is such a joke.

Which idiot said that U of Arizona playing in Portland, Oregon is a virtual home game? I live in AZ and other than they are in a Pac 10 area, that is like saying that playing in Atlanta is a virtual home game for Syracuse. Stupid, stupid.

Doug Gottlieb: hoops analyst, journalist, credit card thief... all around great guy.

Wisky as 1, Ariz 2, and UNC 4. Yikes, that's a rough regional. Not sure how good Baylor is as a 3.

This is the first time in a while I miss 3 teams from the field... although I suspect many will have at least 2 misses.

I had
Temple
Colorado St
Old Dominion in

I did not have
Ole Miss
BYU
UCLA

The big surprise is obviously UCLA. That pick makes no sense.

UCLA and Texas is almost as bad as an awful Stanford with fewer wins, worse RPI and fewer top 25/50/100 wins than us in 2007.

It's because you were not nearly as drunk as the committee, apparently.

Second worst job by an NCAA committee, unless both committees had the same members, then I would understand that they had been very, very busy for 8 years looking under rocks.

1. West (Wisc, Zona, Baylor, UNC)
2. Midwest (Kentucky, Kansas, ND, MD)
3. East (Nova, Virginia, Oklahoma, Louisville)
4. South (Duke, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Georgetown)

...in terms of toughest brackets, in descending order, based on the 1-4 seeds. Agree? Disagree?

UCLA 5-10 vs top 100
2-8 vs top 50
3 bad losses.

Worst resume ever.

The only conceivable reason UCLA made it in was so they could match them up against Larry Brown. The Selection Committee couldn't resist temptation.

I think the 1-3 are very close... South by a long shot the easiest bracket, of course, favoring Duke

So he admits that Temple was the last team out.

Thats how I have my regions ranked.

Georgetown's best non-conference wins are Florida and Indiana-10 seed and they beat Butler twice, Villanova, and St. John's at home and the freaking EYE TEST gets them a 4 seed. What logic is that.

Saw this pointed out - the committee guy interviewed on CBS said they thought UCLA was "gaining steam" toward the end of the year...and UCLA was 4-3 over their last seven games. Yeah, that's gaining serious steam.

ummm, so as long as you have a tough SOS, you get in with loses because your expected to lose those games? Thats pretty much what I got out of that guy just now. Basically Texas and UCLA being in a major conference and playing highly ranked teams got them in the tournament even though they were totally outmatched and played in those respective conferences.

That's just flat out snowballing into something that can catch fire.

Look at Providence's resume and Georgetown's and yet one is a 4 seed and the other is a 6 seed.

Pretty awful precedent to set, basically telling all the smaller teams they have no shot in this new era of conference realignment.

Think of it as a gift to us from the committee. We get to watch them lose to another school no one has ever heard of.
