Tourney Selection Show Observations

Yeah after thinking, I'm going with Temple as the biggest snub.

Agree. After UConn losing late afternoon to SMU, I'm sure they were breathing a lot easier...although, for them, that ended up being very short lived.

Might be one of the worst jobs by the selection committee. Wrong teams in wrong seeds.
Agree. Normally I think they do ok with a miss here and there. This was a complete ****show.

I don't even think UCLA thought they were getting in.

Oh wait, what, we're in the tournament?

Saw this pointed out - the committee guy interviewed on CBS said they thought UCLA was "gaining steam" toward the end of the year...and UCLA was 4-3 over their last seven games. Yeah, that's gaining serious steam.

they were gaining steam...only not the kind you were thinking of...

It's funny because Bilas said he thought they did a good job, and he usually kills them every chance he gets.

LOL UCLA at 42 is a joke.

Man, I can't get over the Notre Dame thing. Yeah, they're perennially overrated and likely to lose during the first weekend. But a five-loss ACC champion deserves a 2 seed. And now I see that they're not only a 3 but considered the worst of the 3s?

Think the committee wasn't too impressed with our league this year.

One of the analysts said they were impressed because all but one of our teams got a protected seed but I thought that was pretty obvious judging by how top heavy the league was. Who actually thought Duke-UNC-ND-UVA would be worse than a 4 seed? Louisville was going to be a 4 or 5 and got a 4. NC State is about right and is a team that I have literally no clue how to fill out my bracket with since they could lose opening round or go to the Elite 8.

Which idiot said that U of Arizona playing in Portland, Oregon is a virtual home game? I live in AZ and other than they are in a Pac 10 area, that is like saying that playing in Atlanta is a virtual home game for Syracuse. Stupid, stupid.

I watched the Davidson - VCU game on Saturday afternoon on the CBS Sports Network and Dougie was one of the color commentators. At half time he was assessing the play of each team and couldn't spit out the word discombobulated when referring to Davidson's play during the 2nd part of the first half...it was pretty funny as it took him like 3 times to get it out...and also the look on Duke's old center, Alaa Abdelnaby (his color commentator partner) while he was stumbling was just as funny. I think Doug's discombobulated relative to his geography prowess or lack thereof. :)

Notre Dame and Duke both should of been 2's. Notre Dame got penalized for a weak OOC and Duke got rewarded for a strong OOC. Zona should of been on the one line instead of Duke. I'm of the belief that if you can't win your Conference or Conference Tourney, you shouldn't be a one seed.

It drives me nuts that Duke gets the benefit of the doubt every year. Maybe this was the committees way of guaranteeing they get Duke for more than one game after the last two years.
