Tourney Selection Show Observations

Dayton earned an at-large without a play in. I had them as a clean 9 seed.

With Boise St in, Texas, Indiana in... it now seems like its coming down to BYU or Ole Miss for that final spot... or a sleeper like Old Dominion to knock them both out... looks like my sleeper pick is a bust.
Dayton with a 29 RPI

How does UAB, at 19-15, get a 14-seed? Isn't 19-15, at best, a 15?

And what!? UCLA is an 11 seed!? Holy crap.
uab rpi #s are good that's how there a 14. UCla was iffy to me and had them in 1st four out

Where is Temple as well? Temple houses Kansas at home. Texas loses twice to Kansas. Georgetown as a 4 is such a joke.
Temple got screwed. Beat KU in Kansas.

ummm, so as long as you have a tough SOS, you get in with loses because your expected to lose those games? Thats pretty much what I got out of that guy just now. Basically Texas and UCLA being in a major conference and playing highly ranked teams got them in the tournament even though they were totally outmatched and played in those respective conferences.

I'll repeat something JB said several years ago when UVa got in over SU and the reason given was SOS.

It's nice playing a lot of real good teams, but how about winning some of them.

Did he just say Villanova's bracket was the easiest??? What
Yeas he did. Crazy. IMO Nova was given a very tough road. Wisconsin too. UK and Duke got cake walks to the FF.

1. West (Wisc, Zona, Baylor, UNC)
2. Midwest (Kentucky, Kansas, ND, MD)
3. East (Nova, Virginia, Oklahoma, Louisville)
4. South (Duke, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Georgetown)

...in terms of toughest brackets, in descending order, based on the 1-4 seeds. Agree? Disagree?

I find the South almost as good as any between 1-3. It's only the #4 Georgtown that makes it look like crap.

If we keep it 1-3, I have

West
South
Midwest
East

OK State a #9 seed with a 18-13 record? Texas hasn't won a game in a month. Big 12 sooo over-rated. Weakest Kansas team in years.

I actually agree with that. But man, Georgetown is such a bad 4 seed.

every projection had ok state as 9

Yeah after thinking, I'm going with Temple as the biggest snub.
I agree with that .
I had temple in before boise and byu. then had last spot going to either Colorado state or ole miss

JnCuse look at Providence and Georgetown and tell me how Georgetown is 2 seeds higher? They beat Georgetown twice and Gtown's nonconference schedule didn't have a much better resume.

The committee liked the Big East, Big XII and Big Ten took a dump on the Atlantic 10 and SEC.

Kansas might be worth looking at as a 15-2 upset. We've had a lot of those lately.

Real quick first pass through, my final four is: Kentucky, Arizona, Duke, Virginia

Kentucky over Duke in the championship

12 seeds advancing: Buffalo, SF Austin

First 1-seed to lose: Nova, to Northern Iowa

UCLA and Texas is almost as bad as an awful Stanford with fewer wins, worse RPI and fewer top 25/50/100 wins than us in 2007.

I wouldn't group Texas with UCLA. The big advantage for Tesas is they had no bad losses. Most of the at large candidates had 3 or 4 bad losses. Having none is a big deak.

The top 50 records are similar --- 3-12 and 2-8, but UCLA did have 3 bad losses to UCLA;s

I had both gtown and providence as 6

I like this in general but I'm not sure Nova gets by NC State.
