Ok then all interviews with coaches are worthless because you can’t get anything out of them. I’m so sick of coach speak that I just want someone to be open and honest.

How about he responds with…well I have to do a full evaluation of the staff and players and figure out what we need in terms of ability to teach and then players who truly love the game and can do what we want. We are going to hit the portal hard in all the phases of the defense to get what we need to be successful.

And I never said to have him state specifically, but a simple, “have you identified anyone that you played against or with to bring with you” doesn’t need to name specifics.

That interview was meh to me because it didn’t give me any insight into his style, his recruiting territory (which I assume Midwest/Ohio), philosophy or anything.

Needs a vowel. Any decent Wordle player knows that ! WELCH! As in don’t Welch on a bet or our D will PUNISH you!
 
Seems like coach Kehres and coach Brown are going to "fit together" pretty well.
Can he bring a Toledo player or two over via the portal that WILL help the Orange?
Can he look at film and identify what CUSE needs on defense via the portal...and deliver because of his "rep".?
On defense we're going to be better because WE CAN'T GET ANY WORSE!!! (not fair because
our offense was brutally bad).
We'll see what happens with the defensive "position" coaches///what's different coming out of spring practice. It would be great for Park to interview Coach Fran in April and get an idea of the improvements
being made.

What you want his response to be is literally all coach speak!

You're never going to get a coach to break down what they are doing because they don't want you to figure out how to beat them.

I am going to guess there will be no announcements of Toledo stars transferring until after their bowl game.

I just did a quick ESPN search on this young man. DE, decent stats for this year. His post states “one year of eligibility” but unless I missed something, he should have two years remaining as there was only one game recorded in 2023 (unless they didn’t show games if he didn’t have any state…maybe?)
 
IMHO outperforming defenses require just a decent to outstanding level of skill. The secret sauce however is motivation and a buy-in from the players on the scheme.
And when players see it start to work (like they did with Toledo) it becomes more or less self-sustaining.
That's my "never played the game" analysis.
