Virginia has a COVID case - out of ACCT - potential SU impact?

I think you're being a little rough on them without having all of the facts.

So much about contracting this virus is what others around you are doing not just what you are doing.

The players and coaches could be doing everything correctly. They are still exposed to bus drivers, hotel staff members, arena security guards and janitors, team managers, PT and other medical members, team tutors, cafeteria staff members, etc. You obviously can't monitor those folks day-in-and-out like you can your players/staff.

You've got over a dozen teams down there. Right now, they are probably more exposed than your normal person in the Northeast. There's always a risk that some people may get it.

The fact that there are hundreds of team and staff members down there and only a couple positive tests isn't necessarily a condemnation on the one or two people that get it, it could very well be they just fell victim to the law of averages.

I get it's frustrating and it could end our season earlier than we hoped, but we're watching sports, in the middle (hopefully near the end) of a pandemic, played by amateurs who are flying around the country just to entertain us.
This could be correct. They could be doing everything correctly you don’t know and I don’t know. Nor does the other poster know. I defend the amateur athletes all the time. The person I am responding too pushes back on me saying the kid is likely responsible for his positive test I am not going to just let it go if I disagree.

They could cancel the entire tournament and I am not changing my opinion. What he said was something I disagreed if he doesn’t want to respond like he said please move on. I am not changing my opinion because he did that. I personally feel it’s very likely that positive test was the result of the player not following protocols.

I think the odds are on my side. The scenarios you describe would show up the bracelets the players wear.

What you said doesn’t address his points it’s makes this macro to something I didn’t say. I said these kids are living in de facto jail for their schools to make money and entertain fans because I know what they are sacrificing. It doesn’t change my poInt.

So with the "Reserve" teams, the NCAA will insist on having games instead of byes, the following scenario seems likely to happen at least once:

Reserve Team - Utah St.

And say Team X plays Team Y in round one, and Team X wins... but Team X or Y gets a positive test the next day, so both X and Y are eliminated.

Utah St comes in as a reserve and plays its first game in the round of 32.
Which is why I’ve felt we’d def “make” the tourney. I feel we’re safely in the field either way. I think the committee sees us as safely in. But if not, there’s going to be at least several teams that can’t play because of testing and that a few bubble teams will replace them. Fingers crossed that contract tracing doesn’t knock us out!

Hopefully all of our guys are being separated from eachother as much as possible in meantime, (not sure the protocols there as caution).

Be done. Doesn’t make you right.
You don’t give blame fine.
I am not killing the person who tested positive hard but they deserve blame when it’s only a few positives yeah its likely they did something wrong.
Go on though.

Wear a mask, stay 6 feet apart,
Stay in your hotel room.
Something went wrong when only an overwhelmingly majority are doing fine and a couple test positive and I am saying couple to be nice. If it’s only one player then yeah that player is wrong.

Duke had athletes having parties in their hotel rooms.
Their football team and other sport teams had positives.
You'd probably sue the person who gives you the virus. This post sucks. You must be a real hoot at a funeral. WHO'S TO BLAME? Its a pandemic.

If the games were on Masters Weekend then the afternoon games would be on TBS/TNT and competing for ratings against the Masters.

The Masters signs one year contracts every year with their broadcast partners so they can completely call the shots on how the broadcast unfolds.

It’s not changing. Conference tournaments aren’t getting the Masters pushed back.
The tournament had its start dates. Conferences could have cancelled their tournaments if they wanted to be safe.

I wonder how quickly they could change brackets with everyone being in one location. Like if a 3 seed pops, does replacement team get a 3 seed?

You have no clue how the kid tested positive.
I have no clue. This post just assumes automatically I am wrong when you have no clue. I could be wrong or I could be right. Have you heard of assumption of risk?
Also yes some is to blame if they tested positive. It’s beside the point if this relates to sports. I think when one person in a group following rules and protocols tests positive it’s likely they did something wrong.

The tournament could get canceled and I wouldn’t really care that much. I believe the kid likely didn’t follow protocols. OMG somebody is wrong and it’s an opinion.
