Deals can be made. John - I think we could agree to part ways (maybe restructure the buy out a bit to help) so lets make a joint announcement. This allows SU to start asking around publicly.
Why make a deal now? What's to be gained? Everyone knows what's going to happen and I have to believe JW already told him and a replacement search is already in progress. The only thing missing is the official announcement.

The only win win now is a if Autry resigns now, SU saves some $ and Red is spared the embarrassment of coaching the last few games. But Red may be not want to leave any $ on the table or he might feel obligated to play out the rest of the season with these players. I think by now it's too late to walk away anyway.

No, may be he's just packing up his house.

Yeah, mebbs move back down to NYC metro to be around fam, roots, and decompress for a bit... or it could be he may have another gig already lined up too. Either way, prolly planning get out of Dodge...

Heard this second hand, but was also told his office is already pretty much cleaned out.
I wonder if they made the announcement prior to the last home game if he'd even get a round of applause from the fans in appreciation of him as an alum and good guy and bring some closure ala G-Rob's last game. He wouldn't get it otherwise because people wouldn't think to do it or want the AD/Board to think they want him back.

I think people would gladly clap and show appreciation for him... so his HC stint didn't work out. It happens to MANY...

He's still a player-legend and has been stalwart program servant.

Agree, but don't see people doing it if there's no announcement prior to the game.

no announcement, but yes, there will be a standing O, a great player, a good assistant, it just didn't work out as coach. I was always confident with him at PG, just a fine player.

He absolutely had to be hired. 1. He earned the right. 2. The optics would have been horrific.
How did he "earn the right"? Did he even interview? What was the process? He was given this job because he was the most logical "syracuse guy" to the admin. I think the issue is that he did not "earn the right" to the job.

I’m with you. I’ll allow that he earned the right for an interview. That’s the most he earned

It's sad and too bad. He tried. It would have been difficult for anyone to be the next after JB, but unfortunately Red just wasn't the best coach. His heart was always in the right place.
But, it's time for a change.
