A day ending in Y. These kind of threads are weird. He’s gone. Just wait another couple weeks.

Tomorrow: “Coach Autry will not be here next season. He has been given the option of coaching the rest of the season and declined so he can prepare for his future. We wish him and his family the very best and thank him for everything he has done for the University.”
Stole what I was going to say.

I tend to think he's been told privately that he won't be back, pure speculation.
I don't know why they couldnt announce that publicly say before the Pitt game?
Also no game during the school week this week. If they ever wanted to announce something or have Englestadt take over this would be the week to do it.
I really think doing an announcement before the Pitt game could have some positives, fans could give him a sendoff like when Shaffer beat BC. Unless it's contract formalities I struggle with why they have to wait until after acct.

Assuming we beat Pitt.

A fan in the area behind the scorers table was heckling him pretty good today. I'm sure he heard it. I felt bad. But it's also possible they asked Red if he wanted to finish the season and he said yes. That's how they handled Dino and he said no. I'm fine with it being a coach's decision personally. We don't need an official announcement, everybody knows he's done and commentators are even speaking about it sort of openly. E.g., "decisions are going to be made."

Yeah, interesting thing to navigate.

I don’t relish in Red’s lack of success, but this seemed appropriate. Kinda like FSU’s football players playing hangman on the sideline.

I do crossword puzzles during games. That picture definitely tells 1,000 words.

That clip just makes me feel so sad for Red.

Truly. An already brutally difficult job before the current era is now even more difficult. I hope once the decision is made the fans and community are quick to move onto accepting what comes next and appreciating Red for the alum, good human being and long time assistant coach he was.

I so respect Mike Waters and all he’s done as an ace beat reporter for SU basketball for nearly 40 years. But I think he’s lost some perspective on his beat and wouldn’t have taken him for a Red dead ender. This feels like a clueless comment.
