I believe this thread is cruel and innappropriate
If Red had won the game against Houston, then he would have made the different decisions in the rest of the season. I think Syracuse would have the NCAA tournament. We have enough talents. The bad coaching is rooted from that loss. He is that good though. I think making NCAA tournament only earns him one more year. We would have not lost game to Iowa State. Probably gains a win against Rutgers. Wouldn't lost to BC and some early close ACC games.

Disagree the bad coaching would show eventually and catch up w him and left a little more doubt down the stretch.

As notably not a Va Tech fan I hope my response carries more weight but that Houston game was a game we had an entire off season to prepare for and a game Houston looked at like any other non conference unranked matchup. Houston is always easier to beat early on as everyone gets bought into Sampson’s system.

With the level we played, if it was coaching and a new version of Red then we would not have face planted the next two games. That Houston game if we won would have been fools gold for beating a team we treated as our Super Bowl. We never once matched the level of focus and intensity defensively in any game after which just further makes it clear they had over prepared for that game instead of putting the work in for a whole season to improve as a staff and a team.

Not to mention there is no excuse for not doing a summer trip as well.

If we lose, I lean tonight. I would say tomorrow if we played later, or if it wasn’t such common knowledge that multiple national media people have conveyed that they expect the school to make a change. I don’t think we’ll pull a Kiffin and leave Red on the tarmac but might as well rip it clean off.

If we had beaten Houston on the first day, then SU players will have the confidence to beat Kansas the second day. Basketball is a funny game. If you are in winning streak, the game becomes easier. SU would still lose to Iowa State on the third game though. By not by 32 points Likely about 10 points and decided in the last 8 minutes. And the following season will be completely different. The players will fulfill their potential. That being said, Red is not good enough a coach to make the team to top 5 in ACC. We might see he struggle in the next few season and eventually gets fired at some point. We did find the second Jim Boehelm on him. So this season might be a fortune disguised as a disaster for SU fans.

Does it matter that Wildhack will be out of town? What are the days he is away. I know people said he was heading to Indy today. Or has the real conversation already happened, and the official announcement was just waiting to be released?

Are we sure that Red is going? I only ask because wouldn't the new AD like to make the decision and wouldn't a new coach like to know that the person that hires him will be there?

It would be very Cuselike to just wait another year.

The conversation happened last year. Red was lucky he got a lifeline. Too bad the ship he was able to swim to was the SS Titanic.
