I believe TD will be the starting quarterback week 1. I do think Shrader will be the starting QB by the end of the year, whether it's from play or injury. My worry is still with TD being able to handle pressure and the ability of our offensive line to decrease the amount of plays TD (or someone else) is pressured.
This post right hereDeVito is going to throw for 30 TDs and ride a bowl appearance on to the NFL draft.
Jorts will make appearances as a change of pace in most games and play well, setting up a smooth transition to 2021.
Would be great to see but I would not put any money on this outcome.DeVito is going to throw for 30 TDs and ride a bowl appearance on to the NFL draft.

And then had a serious injuryI agree that Tommy will likely start the season, but I disagree that everything about Schrader is about potential. Don't forget-He started as a True Freshman in the SEC and had some nice moments.

Leach wanted a specific type of QB for his system. Thats why he brought in a transfer. Morehead’s system is similar to Dino's. Did Shrader freshman SEC film show you anything? Just watch it with your own eyes and tell me he can't play QB.I’m not getting my hopes up. assuming td is our best option and will start. I tend to believe mike leach knows football better then any of us. After how bad Allen was when he came here I just assume we are getting peoples scraps. There is a reason the kid was moved to a different position by one of the best offensive minds in the game. Bottom line Dino needs to learn how to recruit qbs
If he hasn't shown the ability to read a defense and react to it in 4 years, why would you think suddenly he will this year?Tommy Devito will be much more of a factor than I think you guys are giving him credit for. Because of maturity and experience, he will show more pocket awareness and escapability than he has in the past. He'll start at least the first 3 games, and we'll see how it goes from there.
I agree with this. I am thinking similar to how Nassib was worked in for some series when Paulus was QB. However if things go south for Tommy, I fully expect there to be a quick change.TD but with packages for Shrader.
This is spot on. I would like to see a metamorphosis for TD but do not see it happening. If he hasn't shown the ability to read a defense and react to it in 4 years, why would you think suddenly he will this year?

Tommy will start (and get drafted) but Shrader will play about as much as Tommy did the first half of 2018, or approximately 20% of the snaps based on situations, matchups and score. Shredder will do for Tommy what Tommy did for Eric in 2018, get him to go from good to great and step on the gas. As a reminder of what Tommy has done for us, see below 2018 and 2019 highlights. Also keep in mind Tommy has only played a handful of healthy games for us. Also see Jorts highlights at MISS St

I don't have a dog in this debate yet, but there are some reads that happen pre-snap and then again immediately at the snap (finding the hot receiver if the D is blitzing for example).I don’t see how one can be expected to “read defenses” when two DLs are on you within a second of the snap. If I was “reading that”
It would say, “Oh S#!+!”
I'll say GS off the bat. You don't bring him in unless you have serious concerns about TD and Dino knows he's on the clock. Ohio will be a tricky opponent as well. I don't think we're in a position where we can concede a drive or two before brining in the new guy.
Total guess. Just want to win. If TD comes through, great. If it's GS, great. Just put wins on the board.
Personally, I prefer a dual threat QB rather than a pocket passer, but what do I know.
I like watching dual QBs better too. It’s more what college football is all about. I also think that if TD gets the time necessary from the OL, and a couple of WRs who can get open, he can be that type of QB that we have hated over the years - the guy that will just pick you apart. I don’t think we have seen what he can do.I'll say GS off the bat. You don't bring him in unless you have serious concerns about TD and Dino knows he's on the clock. Just remember - Fat Pirate put up video game numbers in Dino’s offense.
And spare change moves around more in the pocket than Fat Pirate.
(I stole that line from an ancient comment about Vinnie Testaverde - this was a good place to recycle it).
IF the OLine isn’t giving up jailbreaks every other snap, Tommy can light it up.
BIG “IF”.
