Right. So my takeaway is that it would be nice to have more recruiters like Monroe? You disagree? And our recruiting is still ranked last year after year

If we aren’t capable of firing Dino if we suck this year because of finances then Wildhack should be gone.
We would be conceding results don’t matter and we are cheap.
All of that was prior to the university receiving 35 million+ annually in revenue from being in the P5.Syracuse has always been notoriously cheap. They just lost a ton of potential revenue in 2020 due to COVID and still feel those effects today. Now add in Dino's buyout/contract language. Factor that in to the next hire IF and only IF they actually fire Dino.
Your next head coach (if it were 2022) is a mid-level-MAC coach or someone already on staff.
All of that was prior to the university receiving 35 million+ annually in revenue from being in the P5.
If the university finances are still in the chit when we have been receiving 25+ million since 2014 then we spend stupidly.
We can afford to buyout Dino and hire a good candidate.
If our “rockstar” awesome AD is actually up for this job instead of all the praise he has gotten we will see.
4-8 isn’t acceptable this year.
Yeah I don't buy the "we're destitute" argument. The school moved to the ACC to be able to spend on the AD. I mean if this is the case, we should have stayed in the Big East where our most successful program (hoops) wanted to remain and kept SU in the AAC with a MAC-like coach who got them to bowls in the watered down competition.
Something doesn't add up if we can't make personnel decisions because of finances.
My guess is they have the money to do it and would rather not. Which I get and would want to lean that way too. But sub 6 wins and the top line will suffer as much as the bottom line if we continue doing the same thing.
Regarding recruiting, Monroe is great but as Oburg said, we still kinda stink at recruiting even with a home run hire. Shafer's classes weren't MUCH worse right?

He’s a good recruiter in that his recruits become draft calibre contributors. Three from his unit last year alone’s impressive. Not to mention it’s Duce, Williams and Jones (all Monroe guys) putting up essentially all positive headlines we have aside fRom Tucker this yearI keep seeing this repeatedly. How is Monroe a “good” recruiter? We keep ranking last or next to last, year after year, in the ACC
So without Monroe we must be a 100th ranked class if he's the only one pulling his weight. Which goes to my initial point, a well rounded recruiting operation may be better if it gets us to the same place which is ranked ~50thHe’s a good recruiter in that his recruits become draft calibre contributors. He's not responsible for recruiting the entire team, and who cares where his recruits are ranked when he's generating All-ACC performers and NFL Draft picks?I keep seeing this repeatedly. How is Monroe a “good” recruiter? We keep ranking last or next to last, year after year, in the ACC
I’d add the following names:My list in no particular order
Tony White
Joe Moorehead
Hugh Freeze
Kalen DeBoer
Jamey Chadwell
Billy Napier
Bill Clark
Tom Herman
Doc Holliday
Jeff Traylor
Sonny Dykes
Willie Fritz
KC Keeler
That's a solid list...I would add a couple of retreads tooMy list of potential candidates:
Joe Moorhead, Oregon OC
Doug Marrone, Alabama OL
Bob Chesney, Holy Cross HC
Curt Cignetti, James Madison HC
Jeff Monken, Army HC
Bill O’Brien, Alabama OC
Rich Rodriguez, ULM OC
Tony White, Syracuse DC
What 5 star guys did we used to have? Actually...we really havent had that many 4's either.Agree to disagree here. We need a coach that can recruit the likes of The four and five star guys we used to have. We need a guy who is strong enough that kids want to play for him despite the location. That being said I know we will never pay what it takes to get that kind of coach
DazzlerI can't think of someone who even fits that. Maybe Herman does but he isn't coming here.
And White took the Syracuse job to be close to his family in Queens so he probably wouldn’t jump ship anytime soonI would be all in on White if we need to save money. He reminds me of the Arkansas coach. I love his personality and the kids are very well coached. Bring in a solid OC and ill bet my bottom dollar we are a better program.
I am all in on White, energetic young coach who is doing good things with the D, and seems like a solid recruiter too. Bring in an exciting OC who isn't some retread stiff like Gilbert and we could have something hereI would be all in on White if we need to save money. He reminds me of the Arkansas coach. Peek at Colorado St since he’s been thereDazzler

He never should have gone to Co St. He’s a North East guy, has two BCS championship rings, develops players and would probably come to Cuse in a heartbeat. He’s making like $1.5 mill so his buyout shouldn’t be that much.Peek at Colorado St since he’s been there
He didn't do enough at BC. What was his bets win there? He never should have gone to Co St. He’s a North East guy, has two BCS championship rings, develops players and would probably come to Cuse in a heartbeat. He’s making like $1.5 mill so his buyout shouldn’t be that much.
