I hate absolutes, so when you say there is ZERO chance Red can succeed, I have a problem with that.

Red’s a good man; a loyal alum, player and coach. He’s also a really good recruiter, but I just think this job is too much for him. I always get Dino vibes watching him coach.

I still think He deserves at least three years

Red isn't the answer. GMac isn't the answer either. This is (was) a big-time program and needs a proven winner as head coach.

A third and fourth year for a new coach was the standard. Back in the day when you recruited only high schoolers and needed to give a coach time to turnover the roster and then have those youngsters develop.

It’s a new day. Rosters are mostly transfers and stay for only one year, and if you get talented high schoolers you only expect to have them for one year. Turnover and development are moot In this scheme of things.

Giving Red 3-4 years seems more a matter of contracts/buyouts, apathy/lack of direction or identifying a better path. I wish we would be proactive rather than suffer the same sentimental malaise that allowed JB to coast for years more than he should have.

It excuses the win/loss result, but not the actual gameplay execution and management. We do not look good or even competent in any single aspect of the game. That has to matter.

You're the head coach and brought in the players injuries happen, not an excuse.

losing JJ is like losing Kyle He is without a doubt the leader of the team and the best player. Yes, better and more valuable than Donnie at this point. Not pro potential but to Syracuse this year. With JJ we might have won the last two games. Red isn't getting fired after this season He will however get fired after the next one if he doesn't significantly improve.

For a school that is pinching pennies this seems short sighted. If attendance follows suit of yesterday we will lose out on min. of $5M in revenue next year which doesnt make sense for a school with no money

we will lose out on a lot more than that if we mess up the kids that have committed to Red next year especially the one with his name on the building

This is the main thing for me. It’s not that we’re losing. It’s how we look. Like an AAU team.

I was high last night so my message was probably rambling but I stand by it: If melo was about syracuse for syracuse's sake, he would've been donating for the last couple of years. If he only wants to support because Kiyan will be here a couple years then that doesn't change the trajectory of the program and we are holding onto a coach for a 1 - 2 year band aid and digging the hole even deeper.

Assuming you are not high now, you still have no idea whether Melo was "donating for the last couple of years." What you do know with certainty is that his name is on the building.

That also works both ways. All we know is his name is on the practice facility. We are all assuming that when his son is here he will give to NIL but that isn’t certain.

Almost every person on this board is saying we need to keep Red to keep Anthony so we get access to the Anthony money. Like every single one of them. This line of thinking is assuming that we currently don't have access to it and we are only getting access to it because his son is coming here or if Anthony is going someplace else then the funds are going away.

To me it seems like Melo would make it clear to Wildhack what Kiyan’s intentions are if a coaching change is made. Melo’s a savvy guy. He can see what’s happening this season and the head coaching ramifications. He’ll let his feelings be known.

You either provide him with an NIL budget to go after top talent or you need to be quiet. We saved ourselves some money by not getting Mack. He did very little yesterday. He couldn’t keep Carlos in front of him. He’s not much bigger than Carlos either. I’d take Sorber over everyone on the court yesterday. He has great feel around the rim. He like Freeman has to get bigger and stronger.

Not enough NIL funds that is also Red's fault. The coaches job is to inspire the boosters to give him the money he needs and also to inspire the normal fans who don't normally donate to donate.

That’s not all on Red. What the hell is JB getting paid for. The AD also has to raise money. I would think the GM should also share some responsibility.
