Wow talk about a tough schedule

Again, we scheduled Mizzou, not the Packers. Its a tough BCS, but winnable, road game. Our program was built on playing any and all comers. I'm glad we are continuing to do this and aren't resorting to Rutgers-type win padding. As we all know, that's a horse way to build a program (and its been proven to do them no good with a still empty trophy case).

We had a disappointing 5-7 season last year but this is not the Grob era. Don't tell me we can't win meaningful road games. Are you really chalking this up as a loss already? Such a defeatist fan base.

Why is chalking this up as a loss or likely loss a defeatist attitude? What have you seen in Marrone's tenure that tells you this SU team can go on the road and beat a top 25 SEC team?? We have one meaningful road win in Marrone's entire three years and somehow we should feel good about playing at Mizz in the middle of November? And also Deepthrow it is right while the majority of this board is thrilled with a 5-7 record because we had to schedule "tough" RU and other BE teams are laughing at us while there in bowl games and were sitting home again.

we all know scheduling wins hasnt helped rutgirls grow:rolling:

your welcome-i guess opinions other than yours just cant be right

and syracuse does owe the local fan base good ooc games

This is just fundamentally wrong.

So we beat their asses out there and they don't even get a rematch.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me.

Id give anything to see SU blow out Mizz on the road but lets be honest thats not happening we can win but we wont be blowing them out.

365 days ago, I would have told you the same thing about our October 2011 game against West Virginia.

why so-

so su doesnt owe anything to those who have been loyal when the program has been at its lowest point ever-

So you think if they have two FCS schools they'll go 9-3, but not doing so makes us 6-6? If you think we will go 9-3 with two FCS schools, that means you think we'll go 8-4 adding Mizzou. Your logic is flawed. And the same people that rip on Rutgers schedules nationwide will rip on ours.

Perception would be Syracuse is scheduling weak. Instead, we will be looked at as having one of the best OOC's in the country, and if we pull out some of these tough games, people will look at us even better. If we knock off Mizzou, the perception of our program will be better.

Sorry Bnoro I usually agree with most of what you say but your off on this one. Deepthrowit is right regarding the perception, we all know Rutgers schedule has been an absolute joke but perception isnt reality there last couple of recruiting classes haven't been affected at all by there schedule and instead they have landed there best ever classes these past two years. its fine to have one of the best OOC in the country but you have to actually win some of them for any of that to matter, this team is not Boise St trying to get in the BCS champ game it just needs a bowl game and its not getting there with this schedule.

No, WVU is way different were talking about a conference opp we see every year and just beat the year before at there house. People need to stop comparing the two, Mizz on teh road is tougher then WVU.

Empty trophy cases, but who's national (or even regional) perception is higher right now? RU or SU? Don't use the fact that the ACC picked SU as a defense. That had more to do with basketball than football.

We can agree to disagree. I like reading both sides of the spectrum. I am just stating that in this coming season, it wouldn't have been the end of the world to schedule an additional FCS team to pad the schedule.

I, for one, would be fine with Cuse going 9-3 or 8-4 this year with two FCS teams. Nobody is going to talk about how great our schedule was if we are a losing team.

why so-

so su doesnt owe anything to those who have been loyal when the program has been at its lowest point ever-

SU cut the ticket prices for many to what amounts to about $15 a game and you can still spit on the field. AND they got them better opponents - heck, at top 5 Cincy team came to the Dome to play in front ot 20k empty numbered benchbacks

I liked how you threw the SEC team thing in there. Very clever. However this is not an SEC type team I think we all know that. We can certainly beat Mizzou. Like cuseman said this is not an NFL team that we need the stars to aling to win.

Playing FCS competition does nothing for a fan base and nothing for the development of a football team. Like I said, play the harder game. In the end, regardless of the outcome it wil benefit these players. In fact I was pretty embarrassed that Rhole Island actually gave us a game last year and if I remember we took a pretty good ribbing for that by some pundits.

And to furher elaborate on this, I would be more excited as a recruit knowing we have Mizzou on our schedule as opposed to Alcorn State or The Citadel.

I think hes talkign about season tickets and that Cincy game was a Conf game where the season had allready slipped away.

I dont want two 1AA's I agree that between the two this is better but why not schedule Hawaii, MTSU, or North Texas instead? We need to stop beating around the bush every SU fan hear knows our history and knows were not winning that game on the road versus Mizz all this talk of can win and its not the GB packers etc etc is just people trying to put a positive spin on this. This will be the typical SU road Top 25 game keep it close early make a mistake or two or get a bad call from teh official get down 3-4 scores and then score a couple late TD's so everyone can feel good about the loss.

Not sure it did at that point, I remember watching and thinking it was winnable, the refs flipped the field a couple of times and it got away. But to further my point, a top flight opponent goes into the Dome and people stayed away in droves. AND we're going to the ACC, and we get to play USC in the home of the NYGiants, which would be cool to see Syracuse spraypainted in the end zones.

Anyway, go to the UConn board to be truly mortified, we could be that.

I will do a backflip off the roof of the dome if we lost to Mizzou by 3-4 scores. I dont understand why you dont think we can win that game? Maybe this is THE game that we need to get over the hump? A road win against...ahem...an SEC school isnt positive?

marrone doesnt count moral victories- i cant see why fans do

Agree on teh game we should have won and I have no issue with USC in the meadowlands but I was hoping for the 1-1-1 deal like we did with PSU.

i dont care about next year-i will worry about it after this season

yup blame it on the refs-so do we give back the win the refs gave us?

cinci top flight-surely you jest

and im just fine seeing syracuse painted in OUR endzone when we play usc

marrone doesnt count moral victories- i cant see why fans do
but if mizzou came to the Dome and delivered SU a pounding, you would be ok with it becuase that would be a moral victory for you because you were able to drive to it easily and it was part of your season tickets.

Um since when is Mizzou a power house? They will be no where near the Top 25. In fact we likely will have the same record as them when we play.

I agree. When did Chase Daniel become eligible again?

Look I will be rooting just as hard as anyone on here for that Mizz game and trust me I want the win but I am also a realist. SU hasnt gone on the road and beat a top 25 OOC opponent since probably Mcnabb was here and those teams were light years ahead of what we have now. I saw this team on the road last year vs Lvill, UConn, and Pitt. I just dont see how there goign to go into Mizz and win.

did i say that? man some people just cant take anothers opinion without trying to make themselves look like kings of the world

was your post back at me a moral victory for you?

I think we all know that you will be rooting. I just dont see how this game is unwinnable. USC last year...that was uwinnable. Mizzou...eh...winnable.

Since when does SU go on the road OOC and win? And surely you notice Mizz's recruiting class this year?
