The fact wrestlers won’t unionize now just shows how messed up the business is.
They have all the leverage now. Vince doesn’t create new stars anymore. It’s just use the part timers for nostalgia and make the show the “star”.

Which reflects why the ratings and interest are going down.
Rollins/Lynch/Flair kiss a$$ so they get taken care of. The rest go up and down and business is on thin skin if they lose their TV deal. As no crowds/merchandise are killing revenues.

Vince has used his wrestlers to fund the WBF, WWE film studios, the XFL twice. The wrestlers need to come together and if they did Vince would cave or lose a lot of talent. They could easily stay home and claim their health are concerned in this pandemic if Vince went live each week.
Vince would then need to tape broadcasts and violate his TV contracts and lose revenue or cave.

With Vince cutting talent it’s on the wrestlers now more than ever.

According to this article, Vince is taping shows through July. The networks are ok with it and he won’t lose revenue.

The news on the tv contract is all over the place. Not sure what to believe.

The company is going to be damaged severely because of this pandemic.

Interest was craterring and the uncreative team isn’t going to make good storylines.
The ratings are already under 2 million. Vince deserves all the crap he gets.

I own stock in the company and want it to tank. As my amazon stock has gone thru the roof this month and more than made me enough to root for WWE stock to tank.

I’ve kinda accepted that I’ll most likely never really care about new wrestling in WWE again.

And as much as I enjoy AEW, it’s mostly Jericho. Once he’s gone, I’m probably out.

I still find it fun to go back and rewatch old stuff - and sometimes find great, old stuff that I’ve never seen.

Pretty much the same with me. I don't know why Vince is trying to make this empty performance center stuff work. Just put classic stuff on and I'd watch that for sure.

Yup. He could pick one old (or even current for the guys who have that kind of resume build up like an AJ Styles) superstar a week to base the show around. Give us a mixture of their best stuff and thrown in some rare or if possible never before seen stuff...maybe house show matches that weren’t aired but were recorded. Spend the week in between shows using social media to hype up the next weeks stuff. If possible, get the superstar on an interview during his episode. I bet this would get better ratings than airing new empty arena matches.

ESPN is airing classic games and this Bulls Doc. People are into it.

In the music world, you’ve got Instagram Live “battles” where older stars are taking turns playing their biggest hits and they’re getting 500k people into their IG Live watching.

I think giving people star wrestlers “greatest hits” with a mixture of rare/unseen stuff would be filling a huge niche right now. You’d get a lot of people who haven’t watched in 20 years who would be way into it IMO.

I'm with you on most of the Vince stuff, but re: the contracts. Anderson and Gallows could've just...not signed them? Vince doesn't get to dictate the terms of contracts like that.

I am curious about how much of the money is guaranteed in situations like that. You read they made $750,000 per year, and then get cut down 90 days paid. You would think considering how desperate Vince was to lock guys up they would've negotiated more guaranteed money?

Meltzer said that they said no to $500K, but signed when he upped it to $750K. At the time, of course, neither they nor anybody anticipated the virus.

Heenan -“ladies and gentlemen! Feast your eyes! Feast your eyes on that man!”...lmao, what the hell? RR ‘93 as Lex Luger poses in mirrors. Gotta be top 3 weirdest segments ever. I’m dying laughing at how ridiculous it is.

* I “watched” this Rumble in ‘93 as a kid - on one of the scrambled channels on cable. You could kinda see but not really, but you could hear. I know some of you know gotta know what I’m talking about. I watched Survivor Series ‘92 that way, as well. Never would’ve dreamed I’d have access to every PPV ever for 10 bucks.

I watched Wrestlemania 9 like this.

Ha. That was right in that same era. My parents actually ordered WM9 because it was my brother’s birthday and for his bday party, his friends came over and watched Mania. We were all LIVID when that second Doink came out to beat Crush, lmao.

I remember hearing Jim Ross's voice and I was so confused.

My dad had a cheatbox so I usually got to watch all of them, but that particular Sunday I wasnt at his house. So disappointing. I turned it off after Bret lost and went to school the next day to find out Hulk was the champion.

Cheatbox...lol. About 5 years later in the late 90s when we had directtv, my dad and all his brothers had a “chip guy” who for a fee would program the chip in their directtv boxes to get everything. Eventually directtv would catch on and fix things, in which case they would need their “chip guy” to come through again.

Those were good times when we had every single sporting event out there...every NBA game, every college hoop game, every boxing PPV, etc.

Anyone catch the Dark Side of the Ring series on VICELAND? Stumbled across an episode this morning, they were covering the Montreal Screwjob. It was very well done.

Recording the next episode, “The Killing of Bruiser Brody.” Looking forward to more of these documentaries.

Just found series on youtube. Just finished watching the Jimmy Snuka/Nancy Argentino episode.

Great watch as a Wrestling fan.

Another round of Releases

Curtis Axel (Son of Hall of Famer and great MR. Perfect) released.

Cain Velasquez also was formally released after being announced earlier this week.

More Releases could be announced this week.

The series has been so well done.

I’m debating bringing up the David Shultz episode on my DVR... but it’s almost 2 and I should probably get some sleep.

Tomorrow morning it is.

Just watched the Brawl for All. BTW, Further proof Jim Cornette vs Vince Russo is the greatest fued ever period.

Loved seeing JBL get his clock cleaned for real.

R.I.P. Aleister Black & Rey Mysterio thrown off the roof of WWE Headquaters during tonights MITB Ladder Match by King Corbin.

Didn’t watch it but Becky Lynch is pregnant and gave up the title she held for over a year on Raw last night. Congrats to her and Seth. The pop she’ll get when she returns in a year or two will probably rival the Edge Royal Rumble return.

Oh and I almost forgot to congratulate Asuka. She doesn’t always get the respect she deserves but she has won everything there is to win in WWE. NXT champion, SmackDown champion, Raw champion, Tag team champion, Royal Rumble winner and Money in the Bank winner. Pretty remarkable.

I am not sure it would work out from the timing standpoint, but Becky's first match back at mania next year against Ronda would be pretty damn big

More than likely Shayna Baszler. Baszler will be next to take the title from Asuka.

Prob Asuka vs Baszler at Summerslam. Baszler wins title at Summerslam.

Wrestlemania timing is perfect. She found out she was pregnant in April 9 months gets to December. Almost 3 months to train and get in shape after giving birth.
