Zach Allen - ESPN

I can tell you one of our posters just ran into him at the airport. Said he and his parents were very nice. Very excited about SU and the offense. Can't wait to get this kid on campus

Very impressive film. I like how he's always stepping into the throw. He leads the WRs. He has good vision and a nice set of wheels. I'm most impressed with his footwork. Probably the most polished QB prospect I have seen at SU in over a decade.

Saw somewhere he was coming in tonight for his visit...
Yep, he just tweeted a picture of the room service the coaches sent up to the room for him and his parents.

It's a good thing I'm not in charge of recruiting...I would have lured his parents to Manley for a parents only meeting and sent up a case of beer, an eight ball and two tri-delts...

I think I've been in the south too long...

From my time at SU, the eight ball and the tri-delts might not have been mutually exclusive.

Actually that's not true. The tri-delts I knew were sweet girls. But they hung around with people who loved them some eight balls.

By the looks of it they're trying to tell him something (about getting bigger) Quite the spread.

Please describe "groundbreaking".

By far the best QB prospect since McNabb.

I was simply stating that I wasn't divulging anything new. After re-reading I can understand how you could think I was saying that he wasn't groundbreaking. Not the case. Love this kid.

He said he's got his "recruiting hat" on for this visit. Kid already bleeds orange!!

Spring ball is going to be fun.
anyone who watches that and isn't very encouraged is just too beat down from ancient history qb recruiting

Only thing standing between him and the starting spot is 15 pounds of muscle IMHO.

he's even more impressive in person =)

His pocket awareness really stood out for me, and the full extent of his ability there is on display in the kinds of plays that don't make highlight reels. The kind of play where the pocket breaks down and he turns a 12 yard loss into a 7 yard completion. As has been noted, he is very polished for a high school QB and has benefitted from playing a very hard schedule in the highest Texas classification, against high end FBS caliber talent. He has also benefitted from the 7 on 7 off season competitions that are popular in Texas and last summer led Temple to its highest finish ever in the state tournament.

Bottom line, Zach is a great talent, great leader, and a great kid who comes from a great family. I have a good friend who graduated from Temple High School. He graduated in the same class as Zach's older sister and remains good friends with her. He knows the Allen family well, has been over to their house several times, and raves about the family. Syracuse is getting both a great player and a great ambassador for the program.

Why is it that we don't here of a talented WR being interested in coming here. You'd think they would love to come in to this offense with a QB like Allen. I know its not our biggest need in this class but still...

Until the season got going probably not a lot of WR's thought our O was any great shakes. By the time it was evident we were going to set school records and look really good, many of them had probably narrowed down to other choices.

Not true. We haven't been in contact with a lot of the WRs we were recruiting. In my opinion, we were iffy on our WR corps, then West/Kobena/Clark looked like decent options, Funderburk was tremendous in practice, and guys like Flemming, Foster, Hale have shown enough that we don't need to recruit another in this class and we can focus on more pressing needs. (Could also move McFarlane to WR if we needed to)

Actually WR s in pretty good shape, we need some talented O-Line and a killer MLB.

Don't forget about Cornelius and Lewis.

Plus if we land Smith, the word in many of his scouting reports is that he may be better suited for WR than TB.

Joe Walker come on down ...
The video on Walker really shows he has the ability to come around a corner like a Porche Balanced and fast. I presume he can play the MIKE as well.:p
