2019 Coaching Carousel

This is uncharted territory for Dino. He has been a turnaround expert vs a program builder. In my company we have a management team thats primary focus is to stabilize a company or division that is struggling. They do not run the company long term as the skill sets required are different.
Dino has proven that he can turnaround a program. The question remains can he build a program so that it can sustain success. I believe he can if he has what it takes to hire exceptional assistant coaches. By this i mean both the eye for coaching talent and the make up to have the confidence to hire and empower strong managers. If he can do this he will succeed. If not he will fail. Mac and coach P had the confidence to hire strong people. P was beyond demanding and he lost some assistants as a result but he and Mac had an eye for good coaches. At this point i would rate Dinos assistant coaches as average at best. Not in Mac or Ps league. Im hopeful that he brings some talent onboard as we need an upgrade.

Yes, we do.

It’s just that some posts (or some posters) need to use the proper font.
Can’t figure out how to do it from an iPhone, but when I do, it’s a different game.

Rutgers was already recruiting similar players to us.
They have 3 superpowers to deal with and we have 2 and one of them is down.

Our schedule is only 8 conference games theirs is 9.
Schiano isn’t going to turn them around. He will be lucky to get to consistent 6-6 level and that will take 4-5 years which I doubt he will get it.
This isn’t going to be Edsall 2.0 but Schiano 2.0 doesn’t scare us.
He made Rutgers mediocre to above average after Miami/Virginia Tech/Boston College left the Big East.
He is dumb in-game coach.

They will go 3-9 the next 2 years. We just need to beat them twice.
We are lucky we are playing them on the road in his year 1. That roster won’t be his players.
Why is this a conference based argument? I am honestly not understanding this side of it.

It’s not too hard.

The key is to turn your phone.
This was posted from my iPhone, though I prefer to use my iPad. ;)

Not working on my 8. No worries. Thanks for the tip.
I use Chrome on a 10. Not sure if other browsers are different. I’ll have to see...

I was thinking about that recently. Last year would have been the year Dino would have historically jumped to a bigger job and the pattern continued when he stayed. He's clearly good at getting a team together with other people's players and overachieving. As you said he needs to demonstrate he can build a program.

2013 - E. Illinois finishes 12-2 and Dino jumps to Bowling Green. 2014 E. Illinois finishes 5-7
2015 - Bowling Green finishes 10-4, wins the MAC and Dino jumps to Syracuse. 2016 Bowling Green finishes 4-8
2018 - Syracuse finishes 10-3 and Dino stays. 2019 Syracuse finishes 5-7

Washington Redskins: Panthers linebackers coach Steve Russ is joining the Redskins staff in the same capacity, Adam Schefter tweets.

Rivera is going to take everyone he can with him...hopefully some players too.

Dino might not be able to build a program. It wouldn't surprise me as he has never done it. Nor has he ever recruited a great QB. Jimmy which is his claim to fame was inherited as was Eric. Tommy is his and hopefully he pans out. Dino needs to surround himself with as strong a DC as possible and if he retains Lynch take over or at a minimum get seriously involved in play calling. Lustig and Swag are solid the rest...

Everyone is saying, he is seriously involved in play calling. Which scares me a little if true

this is awesome spin. Well done

Here‘s reality: He did such a good job with someone else’s players that he was in line for a better job really, really quickly, twice. Maybe you’re right and that his deficiency is recruiting 4* talent at QB and failing to win. But based on available evidence, I’d bet on Dino and TD. It’s way more probable than “he only wins with guys he didn’t recruit” lol

The point is simple. To date he has won with the vast majority of his players having been recruited by the previous coaching staff. Fact. This year was the first year as a head coach that a significant amount of the 2 deep were his recruits. Fact.

2018 was 90% his guys

Not: ED Strick Custis Slayton Hof Cody...

of the two-deep? Might want to check. I did last time this came up.

Granted that ED is a huge reason we won 10 - but the roster on the whole, was primarily Dino’s guys

in year 3 - you get to own it. just like he owns last years struggles. but the reason wasn’t because he can’t “build a team”

After Dino left ELU and Bowling Green how did his recruits do for the next coach? Not asking to say you're wrong or right but didn't both of those teams struggle after Dino left with 2 years of his guys? Granted new staff but Dino when he went there also was a new staff and won.

Well the BG coach who followed him Mike Jinks, lasted 3 seasons and went 7-24. So...
