Turned down Boston College offer to take job at Rutgers. Has major recruiting contacts in North Jersey. Rutgers will be recruiting at a high level very soon...
And Rocky Long as his DC...Rhule to the Panthers, cue the Dino to Baylor thread!

Somewhere there is a transfer portal to this site that needs a locked door.great another rutgers fan.
The problem with this statement is someone says it every year and it’s never happened. Rutgers always finishes ahead of us in recruiting but is consistently behind us in results... and we’ve not been great aside from 2018.
Maybe it will happen, but the burden of proof is on Shady, Rutgers fans, and people who consistently post this stuff here
I'm more of a NJ high school football fan then a Rutgers fan. The difference I see here though is that Rutgers has always went on the cheap when hiring assistants. This is the first time they are stepping up to the plate and bringing in a BIG level staff. Schiano is a really good recruiter but is now surrounding himself with other great recruiters/coaches. Who knows what that will add up to in a few years but they are putting themselves in a position to bring in some top talent.
Props to Schiano for bilking NJ taxpayers once again. He got a nice budget. But I think he failed to put together a good staff.Turned down Boston College offer to take job at Rutgers. Has major recruiting contacts in North Jersey. Rutgers will be recruiting at a high level very soon...

How is hiring an NJ HS coach a "BIG level staff" move? That's a Big East move. Paying them more money doesn't make them a better coach...I'm more of a NJ high school football fan then a Rutgers fan. Agreed, but Michigan did it too, so it is a B1G thing. I believe it was a reason they got R. Gary. I know we were a BE team at the time, but we played Miami, WVU, BC, VT, etc. and did it with the Dazzler. I think that was one reason we got Konrad. How is hiring an NJ HS coach a "BIG level staff" move? That's a Big East move. Paying them more money doesn't make them a better coach...
It's a state of Florida football thing too. Probably some of these programs think it will help them in recruiting if they hire a HS coach, especially one from the state of the football program who has been successful at the HS level.Agreed, but Michigan did it too, so it is a B1G thing. The Temple guy is a position coach FWIW. RU is announcing Anthony Campinile as DC later todayProps to Schiano for bilking NJ taxpayers once again. He got a nice budget. But I think he failed to put together a good staff.
He has a DC from a G5 school (Temple).
He has an OL coach from Princeton.
He has another OL coach from a high school with no college coaching experience.
He has a WR coach with a year of college coaching experience at Lafayette.
He has a assistant from one of the worst coaching staffs in history, coaching God knows what (Nunzio).
He then did a huge favor for Oklahoma State by taking a bad hire off their hands.
Oklahoma State stats
2018 (pre Gleason)
PPG 38.38
Rushing Yards/Game 190.3
Passing Yards/Game 309.85
65 touchdowns
2019 (post Gleason)
PPG 32.46
Rushing Yards/Game 229.6
Passing Yards/Game 224.31
52 touchdowns
Surely these guys will get a few naive kids from NJ to sign on the dotted line but Michigan, Penn State and the rest of the Big Ten has set up shop in NJ and nothing is going to change that. If Schiano and company can get to 6-6 some year, it will be an amazing achievement.
Brown has been listed repeatedly as co-DC in the articles I have read. The Temple guy is a position coach FWIW. RU is announcing Anthony Campinile as DC later today

Example:
Greg Schiano closing in on completing Rutgers coaching staff
Greg Schiano is closing in on completing his second first Rutgers coaching staff by adding Auggie Hoffman, head coach of a NJ high school power.collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com
Campanile is a good recruiter but I don't think he is very respected for his coaching acumen. BC's defense in 2018 with loaded with talent and experience and underperformed.
Boston College Eagles: Defense set to reload in 2019
Short on game experience but not on talent, the Boston College Eagles will trot out a lot of new faces on defense in 2019.chowderandchampions.com
It looks to me as though Schiano is building a staff designed to beat out Temple, UB, BC and UConn for 2nd tier prospects in NJ. They should be able to get some of those players to come to Rutgers. That is probably his best chance for success. Surprised he didn't hire coaches respected for their schemes/coaching knowledge. I guess $7 million wasn't enough for that.
Fran Brown is not the DC or co-DC. He is a good DB coach and the best recruiter in Southern NJ hands down.
Campanile is close to signing with RU as the DC. He turned down BC for same job and Harbaugh is trying hard to keep him at Michigan. Very much respected for his "coaching acumen" as well as recruiting.
Gleeson poached from OK ST and had interest from several P5 programs. Recruited(and landed)multiple 4 star QBs recently.
Bob Fraser coming from New England Patriots to coach LB.
Panagos poached from Minny to coach DL. Very solid NJ/NY and Florida recruiter.
Hoffman very similar to Michigans hire of Partridge a few years back from Paramus Catholic. St Joes has several high level D1 prospects and I bet half wind up at RU because of this hire. He is VERY respected by the North Jersey coaches as well. Hoffman and N Campanile will really help them recruit Northern NJ.
I think you are underestimating the recruiting/coaching abilities of this staff. This staff will be able to recruit against a lot more programs then the ones you mentioned. They won't win them all but will be in it for a lot more high level prospects then you think. Won't be surprised to see a top 40 class from Rutgers in year one on the job...

Assuming that the hires are what you say they are and not as SUTomCat as analyzed:
How does your theory match up against the Big 10 East?
Describe other schools where this approach was successful?
Assuming the plan works, how does Rutgers keep up the shell game? They have run in the red for decades, they loose at least $25MM/annually and though they may be making more in the B1G, they certainly have failed to improve facilities, programs and overall competitiveness.
Do the NJ taxpayers ever get refunded bu Rutgers?
Do the Rutgers students ever get the AD program off the Student fees dole?
Does the Rutgers General Fund and Bank ever get to stop lending to the AD?
Does Rutgers ever run in the black without any of the above?
Schiano may have had a good idea, but he is certainly overpaying for this staff. Even if they are worth it five years from now, this staff as a whole is not a P5 staff.
I agree Schiano is focusing on getting a staff of recruiting specialists. I see too much focus on recruiting and not enough on all the other aspects of coaching.Fran Brown is not the DC or co-DC. He is a good DB coach and the best recruiter in Southern NJ hands down.

Hey...I actually know what those are. Education by husband while driving down the highway.... or at least a Jersey barrier.
