2021 MLB Season

The uniforms and caps bothered me. Seems like you would want to try to market your stars on a stage like this and have them in their regular uniforms so fans would recognize them.
The caps weren't awful the unis were an abomination. Even worse than the bc orange jersey blue shorts debacle. Part of the lure of the asg is seeing everyone in their own unis.

It’s stupid but I honestly don’t even care anymore.
Manfred is a chit commissioner.

The players wore their jerseys during the HR derby and then in the actual game wore the jerseys they used to wear during the HR derby.

The decision was done by Nike.
Plain and simple the swoosh thought it could make more money selling more stuff so they did what they did and pressured MLB.

It’s stupid because I enjoyed the rainbow of jerseys that used to be in the ASG but the game is kinda useless now.

Interleague play and FA kinda made the game not what it used to be.

The backlash from social media shouldn’t change anything though because the loudest complainers are the annoying entitled BBWAA writers who are part of baseball’s problem.

I knew it was to try to sell more merchandise. Always about the money! It makes more sense to do the different jerseys in the HR derby when the cameras are on the same guy for several minutes making it easier to tell who it is regardless of uniform.

MLB probably has the worst leadership of any of the major sports.
The sport is demographically skewing older, so I get the need to appeal to the young. It’s just they don’t pick the right things.

The union is just too powerful. MLB can't do anything without getting the union's okay. I was looking at the 1967 season the other day. Every game about 2 hours and change. I love baseball and nothing will change that. But the 7 inning DH and the starting a runner on 2ud base, what's next? Flip a coin?

That is why they are in first place and running away with the division. Oh wait.

BTW if Ohtani is so great this legendary 2 way player then why are the ANGELS only 1 game over 500.

They spend money terribly. Artie Moreno is one of the underrated awful owners in sports.

I really hate the idea that MLB wants to ban the shift.

It sucks analytics are smart but hitters should be forced to learn to hit.
This 1000% So, team x is on defense in the bottom of the 9th up a run with the bases loaded and the team on offense has a dead pull hitter up. The defense would like to put 3 infielders on the left side but because of the rules, can't. And the guy hits a ground ball in to left that would have been fielded but isn't. How ridiculous is that. Should we not be able to shade our outfielders in any direction? Maybe pitchers should have to throw fastballs if they have a full count. If you make hitters adjust, they will.

Keep the shift and let lefties run to third after a hit.
Yeah, that makes no sense. The fielders can play anywhere they want. It is up to the hitters to adjust. When you get down to it, the fielders are adjusting to the hitters right now with the shift.

People aren't paying to watch lefties hit 200 foot ground ball outs.

I wish Bill Veeck were still alive. He would have come up with ideas that are 100x more entertaining than anything Manfred is promoting

I haven't seen any polling on that, have you? If left handed hitters hit enough 200 foot ground ball singles, the defense will stop shifting. People pay to see their team win.

MLB has if they're moving in a direction away from the shift.

Ohtani also ducked NY and he ducked the bigger team in LA area. Not a mental giant. A big fish in a medium pond.

I don't know what any of that means.

But Moreno whiffs on Cole - could've gotten Ryu, MadBum (who would be fine on a team with that offense) and Donaldson for what they paid Rendon when they really need pitching.

It’s like when NYC tried to “ban” large sodas instead of people just not buying them

I don't know that. And they haven't done anything yet. Quite frankly, if they do, it's just another stupid move made by this commish. Shifting has been around a long time. Let's make sure that the outfielders can't shift as well. Everyone must play straight away. How stupid. You know what really hurts offense. Fast pitches. Lets make a rule that no pitch can be over 95 mph. You will see a lot more action at that point. I also see that Theo is telling G.M.s to use less analytics. What a hypocrite. Sure Theo. After you win 3 world titles and make your bones with analytics, tell others to cut back on it. He is working for the right commish.

The Ohtani hater gimmick is coming off way too forced. Not really hitting its mark. Tell the writers to drop that storyline and move on as if it never happened.
I couldn't find a good shot of the original Happy Days scene.

I don't love Manfred. The simple MASN / Os / Nats dispute has dragged on forever and needlessly.

From the story below some form of shifting would still happen.

I’m not a fan of the shift. At the same time, I don’t agree with banning/limiting it.

Id rather see more superb contact hitters who can spray the ball to all fields like Tony Gwynn or something, turning the shift into a bad strategy. Let the game change organically.

Give me more of those .330 with 12 homers and 86 RBI’s type statlines, and less .247 with 33 homers and 62 RBIs.

And, if they don't monkey around with the game, the game will adjust. Some smart team will have a team full of guys that can do that and they will win a title. And everyone will try to copy them. Just like K.C. with the bull pen arms a few years back.

Their doing a really crappy job of that. Young people find baseball boring.
