2024 bowl projections thread

It just seems to me that it would make more sense to put our 9-3 22nd ranked team in the Gator then to have us fly all the way over to California for a game. Wouldn't that cost more money? Shouldn't that be put onto a lower ranked team in Duke? I don't know how the finances work out with all these games but that's my perception at least.
Duke bought their way in

Beat Stanford and a 10 win Cuse team is not overlooked.
it wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Holiday bowl had 2nd selection (I believe that’s how it went down, but there is wheeling and dealing that takes place behind the scenes). We would have been stuck here anyways. I just don’t understand how a non-existent conference can have a tie-in. Playing down in Florida is always optimal for Syracuse. Everyone knows the Gator bowl and playing against an SEC school brings you excitement. This is a big dud, not to mentioned the 3rd west coast game of the year.

Does anyone know how these destinations are chosen? Like real behind the scenes info, not internet heresay. Like i know there is a general pecking order based on standings, but anyone know how the bowls pick? how does the league mediate? how do the schools express interest

Do you know how the process unfolded, who has inputs, who has final decision? Bunch of clown posts by people who have no idea how the process works. NOBODY unilaterally dictates outcomes.
Institutions certainly dictate outcomes and theres been numerous posts indicating so by people who have displayed many times that they have a clue.

I’m just questioning your logic. Our AD should not sacrifice $$$ for the sake of a bowl game.
what do we mean by sacrifice money? Is it buying a bigger block of tickets to guarantee a larger crowd? Or is it literally eating a cost? Theres been no clarification. Based on recent history, its not crazy to assume Cuse could bring 15-25,000 fans to this bowl especially if McCord plays. I want to know what we mean by sacrifice before really answering this.

This game being broadcast on Fox will likely draw better TV rating than the Gator Bowl on ESPN. Being the only bowl game on Fox means it will get the big game treatment and lot more promotion.
What league are the refs from? ;)

Hate to keep being that guy but McCord is not gonna play. He's saying the right things publicly but he's not playing.
Yeah I figured. Oh well, will be exciting to see a different look too.

That sums it up. I understand the frustration over the opponent but too many people acting like the actual bowl sucks, it doesn’t at all, not close
I think the issue for many is the timing of the bowl. I know many people, us included, were going to be able to attend the Gator bowl. I can get the time off from work after January 1st. I cannot swing the Holiday bowl, as many co-workers have Christmas week off.

The Holiday bowl also does not work for many because of family obligations with Christmas. We will likely have a big watch party in Syracuse versus actually being able to attend the game. That’s my disappointment.
