A lot of work to do

We also got wins because of Shrader's good. Every QB has good and bad. Not just Shrader.
I said you know instantly if you have bad Shrader. If he were always bad I wouldn't say that. Obviously Fitz wasnt bad all the time

When shrader is off, he's more off than good passers having a bad day. I think this place is pretty silly to pretend otherwise

Honestly, think Tucker is at like 60-70%. He’s dealing with something.

Yes, he took a shot to his left quad, just above the knee, vs. Louisville.

We had 4 turnovers and won a conference game. We have three weeks to clean up. Nothing but positive.
Agreed.
Two things I try to never do:
(1) Never watch replays of SU losses. If we lost, fine- I don’t need to revisit.
(2) Never over analyze SU wins. Yes, I’ll watch the replay and enjoy the highlights, but I refuse to focus on the negativity of missed opportunities or “blown something-or-other”.
In 2 weeks none of us will care how this game was won, just that it was WON not lost. At least I know I won’t.

The optimism in me wants to come out here. We are 4-0 and best 2 P5 teams these past 2 weeks after not having our A game, hell probably not even our B game. We are 4-0 with lots of room to improve. And this couldn’t happen at a more perfect time. We have Wagner coming up, a glorified scrimmage to work on things then a bye week. These next 2 weeks give us a lot of time to work on things and get healthy before the brunt of our schedule. This line up perfect for us. No one left on our schedule really screams definite loss to me anymore. Obviously Clemson and NC state would be tough games but I think we can hang with them. I think we can pull off an 8-9 win regular season fellas

Of course you should care how you got there because it’s not a sustainable model

Fair point. We have to play better. But at this point, a bowl game is almost guaranteed.

I like you as a poster DoctorB, but I couldn’t disagree more.

Well, agree, that all that matters is the W. But analysis of wins can lead to improvement. What people point as being negative, I see as, “we need to improve this or we will lose next time.”

It’s this sort of poo poo’ing that led to some being surprised the bball team had a losing record when it was obvious to some that we couldn’t defend anyone in December.

So to me...what I take out of this win is what I already said...the general offense mindset needs to change or we can and will lose these close games going forward.

I’m sure others have mentioned this, but why was Garrett snapping the ball with 15-20 seconds left on the play clock? You’re just gifting time to UVA for a final drive. Is this typical Dino late game lack of situational awareness?

The end of game clock management and general play calling was yet again a complete mess. It was vs purdue if folks remember, but we won that so was kinda pushed to the back. The lack of awareness by our two offensive stars was shocking. I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw a qb not throw one up on an obvious offsides like that

We over-critique the actions and decisions of young men in dynamic situations. The outcome of most games is a physical, mental, and emotional struggle. Dozens of players contribute to the outcome, some with miraculous passes with 7 seconds left and others that make horrible mistakes at the wrong time. The outcome is a complex combination of factors that unfold in real time. There's no do-overs. Players, coaches, officials, and fans all impact the outcome. If the Purdue or Virginia games weren't at the dome, would we have won? SU fans contributed significantly to those wins. Kudos. So yeah, I'm pleased to be 4-0 without regard to specific players or plays. We've won 4 games against mostly good programs. Be happy, my friends.

I do think people don't see obvious stuff here
Yeah but you act like people dont say the same things you do. As if you see things better. Pointing out Shrader not throwing well is too casual. There's other things Cuse dont do well. No one thinks he's Trevor Lawrence. Just from reading some of your posts. You sound like you care more about Shrader failing so you can be right and less about SU winning a game.

Fair enough.
But my thought process derives from other factors- call it old age, perspective, experience, or what have you.
I’m a beaten down, long-suffering SU football fan who’s spent years analyzing and dissecting every aspect of SU games, most of those being losses. By now I’m too long-in-tooth to focus on certain aspects of the teams performance. Now, I’m not saying I’m deaf, dumb, and blind to their many faults, i simply choose not to dwell on it. And yes, I recognize that that thought process might be in the minority on a message forum such as this.
What matters to me is the end result, the W. This is due to a convenient pragmatism, combined with a need to maintain my sanity. My blood pressure, heart, and mental health is much the better for it, as is my pure enjoyment of my team. JMHO

He’s dealing with a horrible run blocking OL.
Sure, but it's the same line as last year. The scheme is different and less run friendly, but we need to stop absolving Tucker and Dino here. Tucker is clearly not 100%, but his vision for finding holes and slipping through glancing blows is gone. Tucker has either shown off Disney princess moves that go nowhere but east-west or he has run straight into the back of his OL. Go watch the tape. The holes are there, the cutbacks are there, but he is not 100% healthy and he needs coaching. He's a one-cut back, always has been and always will be, but he is doing too much to try to display multiple qualities for scouts that are just not his strengths. He's a superstar, but 3.0 ypc is not solely an OL problem.

Completely disagree. That is all.

Our guys jump offsides so many times that I accepted the trade off.

Looking past NC St takes some cajones
I wasn't looking past NC State's , I was talking about a lot of work to be done after tonight's game even before our next game against Wagner. No, NC State is going to be a very good test for us to see where we really are. Especially after watching NC State/Clemson 2 overtime game, With Clemson winning it.

In 2012 we had no running game until our 7th game. So maybe the same can happen this year in game 6.

People forget for a year and a half Shrader hadn't played QB. Then came in last year and played for a bad OC.
This year a brand new system with half a year to learn, and play.
He obviously isn't at 100%, you can see his running isn't there now.
The week off, and playing less against Wagner comes at a Good time.
