If JB stays another year then it should be Wildhack’s job that’s in jeopardy. It’s inexcusable for us not only to miss the NCAA’s, but the NIT two years in a row.

JB has to "retire" by May. If he doesn't, then Wildhack is an idiot.
We just had our lowest attendance in 20 years.
The fans have spoken. This sucks. Change is necessary. Now.

If I take a step back from my disappointment, they need to at the very, very, very least announce that next year is his final year. Even the biggest JB supporters should be able to see that all of the uncertainty makes no sense on any level.

And isn’t he responsible for the forwards? We have seen very little important from that spot lately. Wasn’t Benny all him?

So Red has all these ideas and schemes, but JB ignores it all and GMac is just a JB lackey? The associate head coach has zero to do with how we are playing?
Have you ever seen JB allow his assistants to talk to him during a game? This should give you a good indication of how he “allows” things to go

Have you been to any women’s games this year? At times, Coach Jack brings her staff out to the court for a few seconds before going into the huddle during timeouts. Loved seeing that management style at the Miami game.

If you’re insinuating practice you’re wrong.

Was just looking at ken pom and our adjD ranking is now 158 and it was 204 last year. That said the actual figure - of points allowed per 100 possessions this year is 104.3 which is worse than the 104.0 from last year.

The offense went from 115.4 last year now down to 110.4.

You just nailed the elephant in the room.

People can claim that things would be different, but there is zero evidence to substantiate that claim. Plus, as you point out, Red hasn't proven to be much of a recruiter.
Red is actually a very good recruiter. He doesn't have the advantage that past ass'ts had. 1 a Head coach that was involved and 2 a younger head coach. I am not advocating for Red. I want a national search. But Red and even Gerry have been recruiting with one hand tied behind their backs. I feel sorry for them. Jb has really hurt their futures.

Somebody on the board ran into Tirico at a restaurant in Arizona, I guess Mike was doing a Cardinals home game, and had short convo with Mike. Mike said he thought JB would coach in 23-24 and that would be it and ADJW would do a national search. I read it here on the board. Encouraged although I wish this was the last year. Another year wasted next year. I'm not getting any younger.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see GMac as head coach at Lafayette next year. They just suspended their first year coach.
I don’t think so. Assistants, even in the Patriot League, are hired as coaches from successful programs. SYR, right now, is not a successful program. No one hires assistants from middling, mediocre programs.

If Red isn't being allowed to coach and if Red isn't being allowed to recruit that raises even more red flags about Red IMO. Why on earth would any self respected coach that wishes for this become his profession, stay at a place that long when you aren't allowed to do normal coach things or that your boss hamstrings you so much it makes you look bad publicly?? Like move on and stand on your own if your boss is holding you back that much move on and make your own path.

I don't disagree about being hamstrung.

But results matter. And Red's recruiting capabilities are being overblown, relative to what the long-term results have been.

He's got a great personality, and as a former player does a nice job establishing the initial connection with current recruits and their families. But coffee's for closers.

I have been told that his batting average is pretty good.

I just said game

Yes you did but followed it with that’s an indication of how JB allows things to go in response to a post I assume was talking about practice and red having the forwards. That’s why I also said insinuate.

And yet, the talent we've landed post-Hopkins doesn't jibe with that.

Just seems like something people say [Red is a good recruiter] that people then accept at face value, despite evidence to the contrary.

Autry bringing in the two biggest busts of the past 5 years in Jalen Carey and Benny doesn't really encourage a lot of confidence on his talent evaluation.
Every coach brings in busts. And Benny's career isn't over just yet.

Not just people. People that both you and I respect. Unlike Hop and Troy and Rob, he didn't have a coach that was a plus during the recruitment. Heck, the Head coach wasn't even around most summers.

Why continue to work for a boss that limits your performance?

What has he done not to? His is the name I here overwhelmingly most often when recruits are interviewed. I don’t blame him if they don’t end up coming here… I blame what we’ve become due to an antiquated defensive system. Try listening to him analyze what’s happening on the court sometime and tell me the guy doesn’t deserve a shot to be a head coach.
I respect all your opinions but that’s mine.
How many of those recruits became Syracuse players...thats the point.
