ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

They need to move the league offices out of Greensboro and never play the tournament there again. Sorry, it was nice for a while but the league needs to act like a P5 league.

Let the Coonskin Cap League have Greensboro for its league headquarters. They love the smell of honey suckle and the feeling of mud between their toes.

Everyone wins.

{Conveniently ignoring the fact that FCS teams in the playoffs can play 16 or more games}
FCS plays 11 game regular season.
One less. Not 12 games in the regular season and not counting conference championship games for the best teams.

The teams that play in the championship game for FCS play 16 games.

Playoff teams in college football playoffs play 15 games.

If the regular season is expanded by one game that would be 16 games.
If the CFB was expanded they would play more than 16 games.
Also the speed and physicality isn’t a strong in FCS vs. FBS.

FCS has a larger playoff because their teams play one less regular season game than the FBS teams.
That “extra game” is the first round of the playoffs.

Interesting. They acted like WVU was def a no for the ACC. Hadn’t seen that formally announced
I assume that WVU is a definite No for the ACC - unless, as I said earlier, Wake Forrest were to decide to drop to 1AA/FCS football because of costs and lack of fans.

If the Big 12 goes to 12, Cincy, Central FL, and BYU all make sense. The 12th member I would choose is Memphis. Memphis is top 3 in attendance in the AAC for both revenue sports every year, and that TV market produces a lot of talent. Plus, Memphis is good at both sports.

WVU bad blood towards the ACC with their online troll farm.
Screw them.
They don’t bring their mouth to feed.
WVU will be in the American likely.

I was assured that the Pac 12 was desperate to expand to the central time zone. Did that not happen? Weird.
The Pac should be desperate to have teams in Central Time, because the Pac has dwindling fans (ACC TV audiences for both revenue sports dwarf the Pac) and the process is regional: sports fans across the Pacific states are fast becoming as hardcore about Pro sports as, say, the peoples of NYC and Boston. But the Pac is still bound up in thinking like its 1970.

And then there is the matter of the BT. The Pac rarely acts when it isn't certain the BT wants it to act that way.

The latter is the reason that the ACC must be ever triply vigilant in 'working' with the BT and Pac. The Pac will always serve the BT.

In my non economic viewpoint of realignment, I really really miss WVU. They were a great rival for Syracuse. Teeth vs Tooth was always a game I look forward to.

I literally cannot tell if you are agreeing with my facetious take or arguing against it.

Would be Charlotte? Seems like the easiest compromise.

Greensboro looks like a pretty cush place to have a job like that. 2 minute commute, lots of golf and big houses, etc etc. But that arena is way off the beaten path, teams share hotels, and it's pretty small time for the $$$ game.

Somewhere JB is smiling.
Atlanta seems to be SEC territory, so that might be a no-fly zone. College sports are enormous here, but about 75% is geared toward the SEC schools and states that surround the Capital of the South.

DC is quite centrally located, has a solid corporate presence (mostly in NoVa), and government proximity is important. Stong sporting culture, mosty professional. It's expensive, too. Great airport setup/options.

NYC is electric, but does the ACC simply blend in a city that literally has everything? Harder to make an impact there for obvious reasons. Expensive to the hilt. Step toward integrating newer ACC schools.

Charlotte seems to already have an ACC slant to it. Reasonably priced, centrally located. Modern and emerging town. ACC Network Studio. Bank of America Stadium. Basketball heritage. Really good weather, featuring four seasons (almost). Proximate to Clemson, GT and FSU (a bit less so), the three schools most often associated with having relocation pangs. Negative: Still tied to NC roots and Tobacco Road, although not as taut or deep as Greensboro.

Charlotte is likely the answer here, but a valid case could be made for NYC or DC. ATL a bit less so.

i wouldve thought the PAC (through the B1G's urging) wouldve wanted a texas presence. I guess the riff raff left and the even worse non-texas schools, just didnt make sense.

kansas has just been uconned, unless they get a bone from someone.

I've never understood the appeal of Kansas. It's a nothing state with a nothing population with one of the worst football programs in history. Does anyone really think OSU, Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin want to send their football team to the middle of nowhere every other year?

They should go the UConn route and drop football and join the Big East.

Sounds like the Carolina old guard really wants to keep the headquarters in North Carolina.

This kind of thinking is largely why the ACC is where it is now.

But I agree, Charlotte is the logical compromise candidate.

It is a big step up from Greensboro. At least there are some Fortune 500 companies there, an airport with jets and some buildings taller than 5 stories.

Lots of banks, lots of golf, lots of direct flights. Types of people who sponsor stuff. And people can live in SC for tax reasons if these so choose.

DC has a huge presence of alumni from every school in the league, every school in the country really.

Big problem is currently the conference cannot have it's showcase football championship game in DC until the current NFL occupant can figure out their stadium deal.
