ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

I'd expect CUSA to take Liberty and NM St as well. The fact that UConn fans are mad is hilarious. They should celebrate it for football only.
I actually think Liberty may go on as an independent for a while longer. They have publicly stated they like being independent and I think they look at it as a badge of honor. I'm not sure they'd go to CUSA, but who knows at this point. I think the C-USA would have to go to them with a Godfather offer for them to accept.

I'm still not sure why the AAC and C-USA don't merge somehow.

Sun Belt just added ODU, Southern Miss, and Marshall to the league. James Madison University board of visitors just voted unanimously for JMU to join the Sun Belt. It now goes to the state legislature.

The Sun Belt pretty much just tore apart C-USA and now has an opportunity to be the top G5 conference, which means opportunities for big-time bowl games. Some really smart forward-thinking by the Sun Belt, especially as the question of moving to an 8 or 12 team playoff is back on the table being talked about again.

Meanwhile, UConn is trying to join the recently fleeced C-USA conference. Yikes, how the Huskies have fallen. Rumors circulating that C-USA will try to pick up Sam Houston State from the FCS ranks as well.

The potential eastern division of the Sun Belt should be a really good watch moving forward. I'm biased but I'm genuinely looking forward to it. That division also geographically makes sense once all the moves are finalized, which will be nice to see.

App State
Coastal Carolina
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
James Madison
Marshall
Old Dominion

If i were the sunbelt i’d add FIU and UTEP to get ti 16 teams

I like the MAC the way it is. Taking these two essentially puts CUSA out of it's misery. UTEP and a school to be named later (Montana?) to the MWC, FIU and LT to the Sun Belt and there you go. G4 now.
Those two are good choices for the MAC honestly. It’s good to see them hold onto all their members and also add more for profits

Liberty has visions of being another ND. For them it’s P-5 (ACC) or independent.

Christian Notre Dame is what they aspire to be

I hope the G4 administrators realize they are now essentially a minor league for the P5 with the new rules in place with NIL and transfer portal.

Great players and coaches will be moving on to P5 programs even moreso than they do now

Out of the available options they are good choices, though not sure how much value they add to the conference. Regardless, I don't think it hurts the MAC either.

Yeah if the MAC takes WKU and MTSU then CUSA is done, so Liberty would stay independent.

They were never going to get the best teams out there, plus besides Buffalo the MAC really stays in the Midwest, IL, IN, OH and MI, this adds 2 teams that you can drive down the interstate to reach or to fly into Nashville for and still keeps the “Mid-American” theme alive. Plus it is still a team in Tennessee which helps them sell more southern recruits on a more local game their families can go see.

Good for JVille State. They have a really solid program and have for some time in FCS, and they have a very loyal following similar to JMU. Happy that they get to capitalize

Can't imagine they would want that now, UCONN that is.
The problem for UConn is, with so many independents joining leagues, they are losing most of the teams they are relying on to fill out their schedules. Particularly later in the season, when conference teams rarely play games OOC.

If the Alliance drives more P5 vs P5 matchups, UConn loses many more chances to play attractive opponents in ‘body bag’ games, where UConn serves as a tomato can and gets desperately needed cash to keep their athletic department from bankruptcy.

If they don’t join a conference, who are they going to play?

They have to be praying the plans for alliance driven scheduling changes do not happen.

I'm thinking the Big12 is looking at UCONN. That would really make the Big12 a heck of a basketball conference. I think they would take UMASS as well as a traveling partner/rival. That would give the Big12 a solid presence on the east coast and should increase their value. I read that UMASS turned down all sports in the MAC and their AD said they will be announcing something important soon. Otherwise both football programs are dead men walking.
