ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

I'm thinking the Big12 is looking at UCONN. That would really make the Big12 a heck of a basketball conference. I think they would take UMASS as well as a traveling partner/rival. That would give the Big12 a solid presence on the east coast and should increase their value. I read that UMASS turned down all sports in the MAC and their AD said they will be announcing something important soon. Otherwise both football programs are dead men walking.
I think UConn and UMass should just merge into one school: UCass (UMonn?) Then hope somebody wants them. Or just drop back down to FCS.

The governor of Connecticut has said the state and its resources are behind UCONN playing major college football. So, I think for the Big 12, that's enough for them to be interested. The Big12 is still trying to put together enough programs and markets where they can say they are P5.

The problem for UConn is, with so many independents joining leagues, they are losing most of the teams they are relying on to fill out their schedules. Particularly later in the season, when conference teams rarely play games OOC.

If the Alliance drives more P5 vs P5 matchups, UConn loses many more chances to play attractive opponents in ‘body bag’ games, where UConn serves as a tomato can and gets desperately needed cash to keep their athletic department from bankruptcy.

If they don’t join a conference, who are they going to play?

They have to be praying the plans for alliance driven scheduling changes do not happen.
Yep. That's the problem. They might have to play UMASS 8 times a year. That's why UMASS is looking to join any conference with a pulse.

UCONN isn't moving their BB team to any conference not named SEC, Pac 12, Big Ten or ACC, and that invite ain't coming. They are looking for a home for that POS FB program of theirs.

And if they ditched the Big East a second time...wooo booy.

The MAC wanted UMASS and they said no.

The Big12 has as good of basketball as any P5 league, IMO, and I don't think the leagues you mentioned are extending an invite. Another thing that strikes me as odd is the BigEast going into expansion. Something is pushing that, like UCONN being talked to by the Big12, maybe.

They will become the "US International" of CFB.

Play 12 "buy games" on the road every season.

UConn and UMass as FB only could sense for the MAC.

East Pod- UMass, UConn, UB, Ohio
North Pod- EMU, CMU, WMU, NIU
South Pod- MTSU, WKU, Ball State, Miami
Ohio Pod- Toledo, Bowling Green, Akron, Kent State

The MAC said all sports or no sports.

There is 0% chance the Big12 is interested in uconn.
There is 0% chance uconn pulls it's basketball teams from the Big East.

There is a whole lot more money being part of the Big12 than the BigEast. A lot more.

I would suggest both of them merging with the Universidad de Puerto Rico and buying a brewery to make a cheap arse beer that college students everywhere could shotgun and chug on campuses and spring break beaches everywhere. Call it MasCervezaCon (Toomuchbeerbad) and roll with it. Use a lime, lemon or kumquat it doesn't matter cause this crap be bad but it's funding our athletics budget so all is good. Think Natty Light with a twist of cabbage. See if you can get Fireball as your corporate sponser.

Imagine being Ohio or Miami of Ohio and not being able to get into the Ohio pod.

I'd feel like someone was trying to tell me something.

There is such a huge separation now between the B12 and the G5 schools. If the B12 went to 16 and killed off the MWC as well then it would be even worse. Really need the P5 to break away into a 5x16 division. Then you can have a meaningful playoff. And the regular season would be better. No more OOC G5/FCS games. Instead you see more P5 matchups. TV wins. Fans win. School$ win.

PR-Mayaguez to the ACC confirmed.
