ACC Tournament Hopes

Expand the ACC Tournament!!!
start on Sunday. The 3rd worst team gets a bye to Monday. The 2 worst teams play on Sunday for the right to play the 3rd worst on Monday. It's chaos, mayhem and madness I tell you.

Pretty wild that so many people are willing to throw good money at retaining such an abysmal staff. It's going to set us back even worse than we already have been.

Hopefully some adult in the room that sees the (financial) losses and can do math steps in.
So many experts on money here but yet I've seen no one here have any idea what the buyout is. This place with all it's insider talk and rants can't even come up with a consensus if Autry is on a 3, 4 or even 5 year contract or how many millions.

Year 2 was a bust back in December, it's now late February still the same bust with crappy roster and coaching. People acting like a few additional wins or losses means anything to anyone on this roster now is just crazy talk. 90% of this team will never set foot in CNY again after March and was checked out 2 months ago. It's only here or there 1 or 2 will step up each game but never the whole team for 40 mins.

The long term donors want Red to get a 3rd year.

Now maybe if we finish the season on a 7 game losing streak, they might be convinced to pull the plug immediately.

But all indications are right now that Red will be back.
If I win powerball or mega millions in the next 2 months I'll make an offer to the school to buy out the entire staff.

So is this finally the 3 bid ACC year?

I think we prob need to watch Call closely. If they keep losing we have the tie break over them and they might end up in the bottom.
Back in 1999 when the ACC was a 9 team league they only got 3 bids (Duke, Maryland, UNC). The other 6 teams were garbage. This is why Duke ran through the league undefeated and their loss in the NCAA title game was incorrectly considered a giant upset. Not that I love storz but that 1999 team was real good and Duke's record was propped up by a historically weak ACC.

LOOK at this point if I can get back out to CNY in time to try the Cajun fried catfish pasta, then at least something will have been salvaged.

Plus a little bit of scientifically-preserved Cajun essence for OttoinGrotto

If SU does in fact miss the ACC tournament, does the Red conversation begin internally?
I'm sure it already has with gameday revenue falling off a cliff.

A lot of posters talk about the costs of terminating Red, but the reality is that the university will be spending more to KEEP HIM when all is said and done.

I agree I'm sure it has internally, but I mean taking a serious turn towards letting him go, which by all accounts here has not been on the table as of yet, with all plans for a Year 3.

If Kiyan stays committed to Syracuse with Autry as coach, I suspect Melo would prefer that he be retained for year 3 (and maybe more). I've wondered on this board why Melo would want that but I think the answer was provided in his 45 minute Boardroom Cover Story interview posted elsewhere on here. It appears that Melo coaches Kiyan from the stands and intends to keep doing so. They've developed a number system where Melo can yell out a nunber and Kiyan knows what it means. I don't know that every head coach would be happy with that type of parental individual in-game coaching. But I suspect Autry would have no choice.

If your 100% confident that Red can get fired, and no other dominos will fall, I'm sure you'll sleep better tonight.

I am less than 50% confident that we can fire Red without some collateral damage.

We'll know in a few weeks.
I don’t think I really care.

You don’t think Carlos and Davis have a future with BA?

Well, if Red stays, at least the Dome will be quiet enough for Kiyan to hear the play call from Pops in the stands.

Which is why Red should get fired. He will have no say with the team if Kiyan is only listening to Melo. Which in itself is a huge red flag.

To me these long term donors seem...weird

Don't they want to see the program get back to being good? I don't get it.

They must like watching trainwrecks in slow motion.
Not really they let JB bring down the program on his way out the door and did nothing.
So why would you expect any of them to change their minds now, and admit they made a mistake.
It will probably take a few more years of a downward trend for them to be convinced that something is wrong.
Hopefully next year we get lucky and with Melo's support things start trending uoward.
