At this point lets just start Wilson with Kimble getting every third series and really start messing with people.

anything but lose. Otherwise its a sabbatical to the hoops board until we cut down the nets in April

Side note: No need to argue and accuse people of being macho on a message board. The lack of context makes it impossible to determine if someone is being sarcastic or snarky. Just saying. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone specifically either, just a view I have from spending 14-16 hours/day on this board.
Good point I know I am not right 100% of the time and I know people disagree with what I say sometimes but as long as nobody talks down to me I could careless if someone disagrees with me.

Its to early for me to jump to the bball board, with Buffalo having a ridiculous schedule I need Syracuse to get some wins. I cant handle another 3-9 season.

I'd like to see Hunt be the starter simply because we potentially have 2 more years from him after this year. I've said that from the day the QB competition began. There really isn't a huge difference between the two ability-wise IMO. If Allen came in and was SO much better, then that's one thing. But he wasn't and isn't SO much better. I like sticking with the "program" kid. Also, I think in this offense, having a pair of wheels is a necessity. Hunt > Allen.

I am not punching Allen in the dick either. I've liked Hunt all along and will continue to feel that way unless there is a significant improvement by Allen.

Still holding out some hope.

Interesting that you now that when it comes to Allen and hunt talents level, you now know that allen 'wasn't and isn't so much better'.

Obviously, you've been at the practices and/or are privy to watching the film, so which coach are you or why is the staff showing you this?

Thank you for your response.

Oh I am with you - completely looking forward to "hopefully" watching us kick the crap outta the next two to be able to talk about what we have and can look forward to vs what we don't have. But we lose this next one and yeah... it speaks for itself.

I usually plan for the worst when it comes to Syracuse sports especially football, but even I can't see Saturday's game being close lest Syracuse somehow losing. I mean I know we have struggled but were talking about a team that just lost to the equivalent of Lemoyne College. Also Syracuse has shown it has plenty of young/new players hungry for PT including Estime, Funderburk, Morris, Arcinega, etc. Wagner has a stud rb and a good oline, thats pretty much there entire team. I am looking for Syracuse to lay a 56-7 type of beatdown.

If Syrause somehow lost I would expect Gross to announce the resignation of the entire staff on Monday.

No, thank you for the condescending tone and thank you for reading my post thoroughly as well.

I said IMO, as in "In My Opinion" when I talked about their talent level. Has nothing to do with the coaches' opinions. And yes, I still believe there isn't a huge difference, if any at all. Never I said I knew as you somehow quoted me of saying.

Anything else you'd like to falsely accuse me of while we are at it? I didn't punch your kid, so why the bitter response?

Yes, because anyone over the last 10 years that thought Perry Patterson, Cam Dantley, AROB, Joe Fields stunk is clearly insane!!

Wait until Ennis struggles in a game against high major competition. The basketball board will make this one look like we're undefeated in football.

And they all kept playing, except for fields, because their backup sucked.

Apparently, like now.

On the edit, and when did Allen lose his wheels and mobility? Didn't the staff say he was just as mobile if not better?

1 thing is for certain:

This board is ABSOLUTELY FAMOUS for not being able to comprehend QB talent.

The innacurate level is about 99.9%.

At this point, there's really no reason to start Allen. Nor reason to start Hunt, he's got a better chance of being worse than PP than being Nunes.

Seriously, where are all the Loeb guys with the...'he's been here for 5 years!!, let him play!! mantra??

We got nothing, sit back and enjoy the ride.

are you saying we have no one capable of playing QB effectively?

I'm saying that its on the table, possibly as even a possibility as hunt morphing into to gods gift to the board and team.

Professional coaches at basically the highest level of college, just declared a winner and a loser, and after 2 games v stiff completion, the board is saying they're wrong.

Now if you want to say that they are Fn idiots and shouldn't be coaching at this level, for they know nothing and totally botched this...can't say I'd argue. But no hunt guy is saying that. They saw him in basically the jv the 5th qtr look good. And in a classic presser, the staff says he screwed up on the TD play. In other words, v the 1st team, he would've david wilsoned it.

This isn't ray handily starting hostetler over Simms, running the same O.

This is a new staff, with a new playbook and 2 new QBs. this is an unknown right now.

After the 6th game Syracuse should be 3-3, lets see where Allen is at then. If he has played like he did so far in those 3wins then chances are hunt will have bailed him and the Orange out and we won't have to have this discussion.

But if he does his job, then hunt can keep holding a clipboard.

I wonder if SU is doing any drills that are helping Allen with this batted ball problem?

If you can't stop them from getting batted, you pretty much have to wear compression shorts or a cup. I would go with the cup personally but to each his own.

I am also questioning what drills someone would subject themselves to...

how bad Allen is are the same ones who were so certain that Nassib was a horrible QB.

What's up with that?
Nope. I've stayed out of it.. Happily still eating my crow after the Rutgers game last season. One of my worst moments to date.

I honestly think the best thing to do, is work HUNT in just a bit like Nassib/ Paulus. If Allen has lost his wheels, let HUNT run some real read option, it also gives Allen a break to see some , slow down and cut back on the anxiety attacks. Much like Paulus not being able to throw the long ball, work the back up in and let him work his strengths.

I think Allen has to be able to play better but he has stunk for sure and I am not willing to say that HUNT is worse. If the competition was as close as many think, ( who knows really) I also think that practice versus game are totally different. Like I said, I am beginning to think that Allen may have Billy Scharr disease and can't handle the stress on gameday, he looks like one of my daughters on the lacrosse field when things don't go their way.

Well I suppose if that's the case we can't say anything bad about Allen's toughness.

Not my fault Syracuse almost always holds up its end of the bargain. I am still waiting for your response to the King Otto thread, get over there.

This is exactly the problem. If you get beat down by years of losing (not sure how Bball and Lacrosse have let you down?) in football - you're unable to evaluate the staff and players fairly. It's the opposite of orange colored glasses. Let's call it Greggers gift.

While many on this board saw incompetence in the game last weekend, and at times rightly so, it's colored over the good things that happened. It's not a fair take.

A new staff, with a new QB, new OC/DC - needs some room to figure things out.

Isn't that what practice is for?

Games especially against Big10 opponents should not be auditions for coaches or players. Evaluation should be done before the games and in interviews.

You don't get the job, then get interviewed do you? If that is the case, I want the job as President, wait no...I want to be the next CEO of Apple...both until I get interviewed and realize I can't do the job.

While Nassib had obvious flaws that were often pointed out by many on this board, we were quite certain that he was the best QB we had.
With Allen, after all of the coach speak about how close the competition at QB was and seeing Allen's repeating the same mistakes, many(myself included) think that Allen may only be the 'best' in practice and not in an actual game.
I would like to see Hunt get some substantial playing time in these next 2 games and find out if he is a better game player than he is a practice player just like Sales was.

The coach P days it seemed like SU was just getting ready for the Big East season and played all kinds of difficult OOC's before the Big East season. It was fine if your goal is to win the Big East but that to me is NFL type thinking because you don't get a chance to go to the playoffs by playing a ridiculous schedule, you lose recruits. Add to that it makes the ACC look like crap if you do well. You lose to 2 Big 10 teams and then do well in the ACC? Perception is that the Big 10 must be better...lose lose.

If we played Wagner and Tulane first and Allen and SU did well would people be complaining? I say let the coaches coach and pick their QB1 and fix those problems that we saw in the first 2 weeks vs very good competition. What really bothers me is those people that get angry and don't show up at the Wagner game because of those first 2 games. You as a fan can not control who plays but you can contribute to helping this team by showing up. I get it that fans think they are the GM/AD or coach and that is fun but once it's gameday back the players who said yes to Syracuse University and chose to play here.

Unfortunately for the new coaching staff, schedules are created years in advance. If our next two games (Wagner and Tulane) were games one and two on this year's schedule rather than the two B1G teams, do you honestly think we'd be seeing so many jump off the bandwagon?

While I'm not advocating a Butgers like out of conference schedule...I'd love to see the "baked-in wins" scheduled first.
