Bring on the Dazzler

No because anyone who says you shouldn’t punt unless it’s 4th and five or greater is not a person to be taken seriously

You took that way too literally.

Marrone or bust

Unless things truly fall apart, which I don’t think they will, Dino’s back next year.

But I bet Marrone will be ready to be the boss again after the tongue lashing he and the whole staff probably heard last night. Not that it was on the offense or OL but something tells me Saban just let everyone have it.

The
He'd upgrade recruiting, guaranteed

Provide sound bites and energy

And also same boneheaded decisions
There are positives to Addazio... NE recruiting, physical style, very good O Lines. But he also was a poor clock manager. I would not say the time management part would be upgraded.

Addazio will get bowl games consistently. His weakness is developing passing games. Defenses were very good at BC. Definitely wants to run FB. In 2021, that is turnoff to some fans who want passing. But he will get 6-8 wins and go bowling.

I'll maintain that the Briles system is still the most aggressive modern system in terms of stressing a defense.
We're not running a different offense with GS. How it's being run is different, but it's still the same plays, same assignments, same reads.
Don't think so.

Fizz, with all due respect, between proposing the Dazzler as coach and your fascination with the triple option as the future of our program, you're either an all-time great troll or have the worst ideas of all-time.

Possibly both. Those aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

Marrone should top any list. Make him say no a couple times before you move onto the next coach. I don't see any coaches that would be a better selection.
Except he would only use it as a stepping stone again. He is a good coach but an opportunist of the worst kind.

Marrone won’t work out and he doesn’t have the passion for recruiting. He was young up and comer first time around now he’s older and has banked NFL HC checks it’s just a bad idea.

couldn’t agree more. He’s my first, second and third choice. If we put feelers out there, and he wants to be here (I think he does), I’d pull the plug on Dino by Thanksgiving (assuming we’re sub 5 wins).

Reason I say he does is gross is gone, funding is finally there for football and we have a HUGE facility plan in the works.

Dino’s buyout sucks, but correct me if I’m wrong, there would be no buyout with Marrone.

The only opportunity to do that is if he does well. Which would be the case with anyone

Not with everyone by a long shot. Marrone did it to Buffalo for no reason other than short-term gain.

Of course it was, but the only way to get around recruiting deficencies is to run an offense that presents challenges to defensive cocordinators and makes us difficult to prepare for. If Dino's offense was not enough to attract wide receivers and QB's we have to run something different. That's why the O has done better with GS.
Yes I have been beating the option drum for the past two years. It’s a similar concept to the 2-3 zone in basketball. It’s unique, gives Syracuse an identity, and it’s difficult for the defense to prepare for.

It’s a lot easier to recruit option dual-threat quarterbacks and strong running backs then it is to recruit stud offensive lineman and freaky athletic wide receivers.

Going with the Dazzler would be like returning (while contemplating a divorce from your current spouse) for your 25 year HS reunion and seeing your teenage sweetheart in the old school gymnasium. At first, maybe your heart skips a beat - there is a familiarity there, some common ground, some shared memories. Does it make sense to blow what you have up and start fresh with this person you think you used to know pretty well. As soon as you come to your senses, though, you realize that perhaps it was never meant to be for a reason. Let’s let sleeping Dazzlers lie.

The recruiting stuff is so far overblown. He wouldn't have went back to college if that was the case. If anything it should make recuiting easier being a former NFL HC for 2 franchises brings some cache.

I advocated for Marrone. Had I known his personality, I wouldn't have.
Yeah if ya read back I was one of his biggest detractors so I get it.

I’m basing it on the (hopeful) evolution of that personality, the realization now that facilities have been addressed, toward the end of his career hopefully with the same fire, that he’d be a very long term and improved version of himself.

He’s always been a solid smart coach (albeit a tad too conservative), so I’d like to think it’d be a bette marriage this time around. Emphasize “like to think” and “hope”.

What was Marrone's personality? Telling the BOT and others what needed to get done to get the program on its feet again and pushing hard for it. Maybe they should have listened to him instead of wasting another decade and try to portray as a pushy malcontent.

No one knows (neither do I), but perhaps after stints in Buffalo (where EJ Manuel was forced on him) and Jacksonville (where Coghlin made all the roster decisions), Marrone might want to have control over his own roster, as opposed to it being dictated by others.

That’s the thing, recruiting is essentially free agency and while it might be frustrating to waste time/energy resources upon losing a linebacker to PSU or OL to BC, you can fill in your own gaps. And that is before one checks the transfer portal every 15 minutes. Never say never.

Guess reading comprehension is optional on a fan message board. Did i propose Dazzler as the next coach? I did say someone with his characteristics would be successful at Syracuse.

Yes I know everyone’s talking points about going back to the triple option but it was only the most successful offense Syracuse has ever had since I've been a fan in 1975. I want the success that Syracuse had in the mid 80s. Yes, i know, different era, 35 years ago, take advantage of our dome, blah blah blah.

BY the way, do you think our defense would shut down the Army offense ot the GT offense when Paul Johnson was their coach??
