Buffalo Bills 2022 Thread

Can just click on the 2022 expected ones and see that the top 15 comp picks were all guys who signed with new teams at over $10.5m aav. Assuming he's going to see a 90%+ snap share and an AAV I have to guess is between $12-17m, that certainly appears to be a 3rd or 4th to me.

Going back to 2021 the top 3 comp picks awarded were all for QBs that signed elsewhere, Brady, Rivers, Bridgewater. Obviously they got paid more than Mitch but he's still going to be somewhere in the 8 figures and will get all the snaps barring injury.

He was with WSH I think, not too familiar with him but seemed to be a productive 1T DT.

Yes it was Washington, lot of wash fans sad to see him go, lots of positive takes.

Phillips signing with Minny
Bills are signing DaQuon Jones from Carolina

Unfortunate that Phillips really looked his best this year in his final contract year. I think Buffalo would have liked him back but from a cap standpoint it just wasn't feasible. Jones gives us a similar type player for a lot less money.

They had Phillips and Star's contracts lined up perfectly but unfortunately the COVID season + opt out messed it up.

mckissic to bills. Looks like 2 for 7?

I love that move. He’s an underrated player. Top tier pass catcher for a RB.

Somebody on Twitter called that yesterday, agree real nice pick up at a reasonable cost. Gives a huge weapon out of the backfield in the passing game

Yeah he's a better pass catching back for sure, but worth that extra few million when you have other more glaring holes to fill?

They still have ways to free up cap space + full slate of draft picks to use. Receiving RB was kind've a need too

He can handle actual carries out of the backfield, when given a chance for Washington he produced but was behind Gibson. Buffalo still has Singletary on a rookie deal so a deal like this makes sense.

One of the richest owners in the NFL and he's gonna get 70% of the cost of his new stadium funded by the public.

Had the state, county and city over a barrel. If the state didn't play ball they would have had a half dozen cities offering to pay most if not all of the cost and leave NY technically without a team. Buffalo and the NFL dangled the Bills leaving and knew the state would do what it took to get them to stay.

Washington fans melting down on twitter about losing McKissic, lots of praise from Washington media guys on the signing.

Yeah I get why it's being done, but it doesn't mean it's right. The value of the franchise has doubled in the 8 years since the Pegulas purchased it - an amount larger than the entire cost of a new stadium. I get that's not actual liquid assets, but it's still frustrating to watch billionaires get free things over and over again. That being said, I'm obviously happy the Bills will be sticking around in Buffalo for a while longer.

Go get Chandler Jones now!
I don't see an avenue to get there unless he takes a pretty sizeable hometown discount. Still need to bring in a decent QB2, TE2 and CB2 at this point. Cutting Cole will open up room but that space will pretty much be gobbled up by the draft class. I think if you can convince Fitz to come back on a 1 year $3m type deal and use a premium pick on a CB that maybe you can meet Jones in the middle somewhere around a 3 year/$30m deal with the 1st 2 years mostly guaranteed and the 3rd year voidable to dump money into. Tough call if it's worth it given there is no way to realistically sign him to a deal anywhere near market and avoid having a big chunk of dead cap space down the road when we are still contending.

If we take Allbright seriously, he said it was basically between Denver and Buffalo for Chandler Jones and Denver appears out of it now. I’d guess he ends up around $15-18 mil per year.

Would love it if we do it but we’ll see.

I’ve been begging for a real third down back for what feels like a decade now; so happy to finally have one with McKissic.

Agreed, seems like from a financial standpoint it would be very hard to do without making a corresponding move that would cost us a decent player or away to shed a significant salary. Perhaps there is a way to structure the contact as such for a small initial cap hit but even then you would need to restructure Diggs and probably make another couple of moves to free up some salary space.
