95% of the time it’s about the moneyAlso this isn’t just a money thing. It’s also a loyalty thing. Eddie was loyal to the most money. When you recruit guys from HS you’re able to build more loyalty. That’s why football is doing better. It’s not just a money thing there.
For example - if Fadil Diggs wanted the most money, he could have left in the spring. Some big time programs came after him with big bags. But he was loyal to E Rob. We’re never going to win in either program if we have to offer the biggest bag.
There clearly has to be a problem. I don’t know what goes on inside the problem but there an are significant issues . Just like Dino not getting any money. If you can’t the money you need to go. That’s the reality of college sports today. Maybe Wildhack should end this sooner then later
Not an argument, but Wildhack was still his "boss".I don't blame Wildhack for this. That blame falls on one person who became bigger than the program.
Sort of. And at the end of the day, he did finally fire him.Not an argument, but Wildhack was still his "boss".
Then we should have been loyal to Maliq. That’s where we fckd up. People were so set on having a center and now we have none and don’t have Maliq. It’s a friggin clown show.
Everyone needs to understand that Fran is landing most of his kids for reasons other than money. Yes our NIL is solid but it's isn't the primary reason he is landing playersHard to fault red when the kid signed. I mean what else are we supposed to do? Overpay him just to be scared of that happening?
That is way too strong. Malik didn't like the role he was in. He didn't want to play the 5. Red did the right thing. It blew up in his face. That happens when you have to make decisions. Some don't work out. The clowns have been run out of town. Then we should have been loyal to Maliq. That’s where we fckd up. People were so set on having a center and now we have none and don’t have Maliq. It’s a friggin clown show.
Where does it end? The system is so broken that a kid could just drive his NIL price up by consistently shopping around for a bigger bag and there's literally no way to stop it.But SU has to meet it. Don’t you get that ? This is a failure of the program
So he is batting .100 and at this rate Freeman is probably hitting the portal after next season anyways. If he was allowed to he would probably transfer now knowing how abysmal our team will beHave you given 100k? He closed with Freeman. The highest rated recruit since Melo. That is closing, isn't it?
We aren't short money with Fran. He has enough to compete. Without the money, Fran wouldn't be getting the kids he is getting. And the future kids he is landing, he doesn't have to pony up any of that money now.Everyone needs to understand that Fran is landing most of his kids for reasons other than money. Yes our NIL is solid but it's isn't the primary reason he is landing players
Batting .100 ? Congrats. You have been here a week or so and I already have you on ignore. So he is batting .100 and at this rate Freeman is probably hitting the portal after next season anyways. If he was allowed to he would probably transfer now knowing how abysmal our team will be
Anglerman thinks you just keep matching the price. Whether you have the money or not. Of course, guys on your own team learn of this and they want a bigger bag or they will leave. Hmm what to do what to do.Where does it end? The system is so broken that a kid could just drive his NIL price up by consistently shopping around for a bigger bag and there's literally no way to stop it.
Well, it appears he saves the hustle for the deal room that he never used on the courtWe did not offer a insultingly low offer. He asked for a ridiculously high offer. One he knew we couldn't accept. This was a farce as it turned out. He was St John's all the way. They just didn't want it to be said that Pitino offered before he was allowed to. One big show. I don't know that we are cooked. We now have quite a bit of loose money to offer. Lampkins money. I don't know yet where we turn. And while we might indeed be cooked, the cake is yet to be baked. I just hope no one leaves it out in the rain.
That’s why I say you have to keep Lampkin no matter the cost at this point. You’re going to have to over pay him but it is what it is.The really terrible part here and why you should feel for red and the entire team. Red made all of his decisions based off Lampkin being a focal point for next year. From how they run the offense to some sets and style of play and he learned a lot from this year. This completely goes out the window and to have this kid walk away after all those decisions were made based on Him, that’s lousy I’m sorry. This new age world sucks
On the bright side… good weather for the linksJust got in from playing 18….hat is going on!!
Yup i never believed the lack of NIL money for bball was holding us back when it isn’t even true. The issue is deeper on how and who they choose to spend it on.SU has money, the narrative that SU is struggling in NIL for bball is false. It's probably in the top 25% in the country. The issue is PG and Centers are highly sought after and SU doesn't have the war chest to pay 8-9+ dudes $750k a pop.
I know people want SU to "match" and come up with the money but until schools can pay directly there's only so much money to tap into especially when bigger donors are already flooding money to the fball program. The fact that Lampkin is getting the same amount a P5 starting QB is should be a tell on how crazy it is out there right now
How much more though without damaging the locker roomThat’s why I say you have to keep Lampkin no matter the cost at this point. You’re going to have to over pay him but it is what it is.
What if you don't have it? What if you do have it and pay him, every other guy that is on the team wants a raise of their NIL? What then? That’s why I say you have to keep Lampkin no matter the cost at this point. You’re going to have to over pay him but it is what it is.
How much damage is a 10 win team going to do?How much more though without damaging the locker room
I understand the thought process, but if you tell a guy he is going to be the focal point of your whole team, you should be ready to pay more if someone else comes knocking. Hopefully Plan C is a good one.The really terrible part here and why you should feel for red and the entire team. Red made all of his decisions based off Lampkin being a focal point for next year.
