Just throwing this out there and this is not based on any info I’ve been able to gather.

Could it be possible if we don’t land freeman, we then turn to a moneyball strategy for center. What I mean is we sign another rim protector maybe a Jerald colonel or a cheaper option and go all in on athletic defensive centers.

Then with the left over money we would’ve spend on freeman, we instead sign an offensive first guard. I don’t know about you guys but I wouldn’t absolutely hate that strategy.

If we don't get Freemen, adding Colonel would give Gerry some interesting options relative to playing with positional size at the 4 and high end defenders at the other spots. But, I'd be surprised if Colonel doesn't command more NIL than a "moneyball" option.

Possibly. He’s still taking visits to schools he was previously offered by before he committed to Carolina. Not sure what our chances are.

While I agree offense is a question mark. The bar for a tournament team is not as high as people think.

We need to stack wins in the ACC and right now the bottom half of the ACC is a mess. The bar for the tourney is gonna be much lower with expansion too.

If you dig past the headlines it’s the vast majority of P5 teams and all but a handful of midmajors that are in a world of hurt with the portal and we aren’t one of them.

We should have high expectations but at the same time the commentary has always been we would be top 3rd of the ACC and that’s where I think we’re trending. We’re not top 3 and no one ever has made bold claims like saying we’re gonna outspend top BIG and SEC teams.

Obvi teams like Pitt and BC have surprised a little but at the same time a bunch of middle of the pack ACC teams have had mass exoduses and that’s with bringing back their coach.

Well, Tobiason looks like a clear upgrade on JJ.

I'm not so sure Doty at the 3 is going to be an upgrade on Kingz. He will probably rebound better, and shoot free throws better, but even with his terrible start to the season, Kingz still wound up at almost 37% from three.

Kingz couldn’t CREATE off the dribble where Doty can. I wouldn’t poo poo foul shooting. Kingz was consistently very poor. He could only go left unless he spins back. Doty is also a much better rebounder and ball handler. Doty can play the two. Kingz could not. Doty can break pressure, Kingz couldn’t. There’s a reason GMAC has upgraded and the three spot with MMM and Tobiason, Doty or Kiyan. I liked Kingz, but his defense late in the season was not good.

How many layups did he average a game? He went games when he never drove to the basket. It was not always his fault because he didn’t always get the ball. His poor foul shooting was a much bigger issue. He shot foul shots like his pants were on fire. Never took a dribble, but just shot the ball.

From what is known about Freeman, not sure he really has the skillset to be effective at the 4. From what I've seen, he def looks more like a 5.

Auburn trying to sell him on some Michigan system stuff. But he just doesn’t seem athletic enough to be a full time 4.
