Clean House on this roster

I’m not sure how many different ways one can say that JB did a poor job with roster construction, but some posters are definitely determined to find out.
Please explain an opinion as to how he didn’t do a poor job with roster construction?

I would actually love to here an explaination with actual logic behind it. We literally went into this season with 8(9 if you want to count Sidibe) guys who could play.
JB himself said he likes 11.

Explain this post better than your takes on the OT board.

I don’t think he’s disagreeing with the position, just saying how many times need it be repeated.

Well considering JB still says Nova plays multiple guys 40 MPG and only plays 6. Then people can make this point time and time again.

The point needs to be hammered so JB can’t fight it as a narrative.

I agree that JB was wrong about how he constructed the roster. I also think it’s not as easy as some try to make us believe.

Hammered here amongst us? That’s not going to have any impact on JB. If he’s reading this Board, he’s gone nuts and needs medication and a state hospital admission.

I guess you don’t read the threads defending the status quo.
Yes its done and that poster does defend the HC’s decisions.

When we have gone 2 entire senior classes of students on the Hill without playing a game as a ranked team in a conference game.

We have only played 3 games at the Dome as a ranked team since 2014.
2016 against Wisconsin and 2 games 2018 against tomato cans.
Buddy is only player on the roster who has played a game as a ranked team at Syracuse.

The hammering will continue until the coaching staff improves.

I’m sure we will feed Jesse, but that’s two guys. Who are the other 3?

And percentages don’t tell us the entire story. A lot of guys we have had historically shoot worse later in their careers than they did early because they moved up on the scouting report and JB gives his best players a massive green light.

Gmac, Triche, Fair, Battle etc….We see it happen all the time and we think the player became a worse shooter, but that’s not what’s happening. It’s happened too much here to not realize what’s going on. Until we move away from an ISO heavy offense this is what we have to deal with.
Gmac got worse because he ended up as the point guard without Billy. He had to create his own shot, and that wasn't his forte. Gerry was best at catch and shoot. Andy was another who was great at catch and shoot.

If Buddy leaves and Joe plays the 2 fans that think Buddy’s shot selection is awful this year have zero idea what’s coming next year.

Based on who we have signed and expected back there’s literally nobody else to shoot the shots besides Joe next year.
Yes there is. Bunch the kid from VA

vt score about 62 points in the first 39 minutes of the game...defense was far fromm the issue in this game
Offense was an issue vs Va Tech. Even JB admitted that the offense didn’t do enough to win. But the offense hasn’t been the issue most of the season, except against Pitt and a couple of others. Hmmm…. I wonder what’s changed in the past few days? Oh, right, our starting center, who’s great in the pick and roll and has been scoring inside all season and gives us a different dimension, suddenly went down with a season ending injury. Maybe that could be part of the problem?

Jimmy is a 15 minute offensive sub vs the right match-up. He has zero value on defense and as a big minutes guy. He also isn't half the passer Marek was. Marek coming back for year 5 would have been far superior to bringing in Jimmy.
Omg I wish we had Marek and Quincy on this team to go with Cole and/or Big Bad Bobby Braswell.

selected SU point totals in losses this season WITH JESSE

vcu - 55
auburn 68
villanova 53
uva 69
fsu - 71
pitt 53
duke 59

plus without jesse
virginia tech 59

thanks for the snark...but the offense is actually more culpable than the defense this year for losses in my humble opinion

(and yeah the defense has been mostly bad too)

Cole has been a disappointment?

He has been a perfect complementary piece.

He isn’t close to our biggest disappointment.

Is this serious?

I think the people we need to be back, in order of importance, are:

1. Joe Girard, the 2G
2. Cole Swider
3. Jesse Edwards
4. Frank Anselem
5. Benny Williams

If we bring in Mintz, I think Symir can transfer out. I'd rather keep Copeland.

Those who want to throw Swider away don't realize that Bunch isn't ready to score 10+ PPG as a freshman. Benny should be better, but would you bet on 13+ PPG?

We have to keep Maliq Brown, because he is a very solid rebounder, and a good interior passer. He's probably most ready to contribute among the current signees.

I like Peter Carey. I hope we don't lose either of the existing centers. Carey's not physical enough yet.

While I agree, it wouldnt shock me if JB peaked over here from time to time.

Someone would need to explain to him what the internet is first.
I don't know, I heard that an early version of the internet was how he got a heads up and survived the meteor impact that took out the dinosaurs.

JB doesn't care what anyone else says about the team. He feels he is above everyone else, and always has. He will do things his way, he always has.

With the right point guard, I have no doubt Joe at the 2G would average 22ppg while hitting 4 to 5 threes a game. His legs would be a lot fresher than they are now, and as someone stated he is hitting at a 44% clip
22?!?

The only reason Jesse wouldn’t be #1 is because the fact Frank is showing he’s a legitimate player. Even still, imo, Jesse is #1. He’s our best player.
