Clean House

this is just disheartening:

Without JJ on the floor we might have the worst collection of guards in the P5.

The fact that Peter is by far and away our best defensive player is hilarious, and Eddie is pretty firmly in 2nd. I thought Taylor was supposed yo be good defensively?

I think Judah can play at the next level. Just not sure coming back would have led to the first round. NBA loves youth. But maybe it could have worked. Who am I to say. Either way, he was a very talented kid and talent is one thing we are lacking this year.

Can Judah guard an NBA PG? I just don't see it.

I can list at least 10 guys who didn't play PG in HS who were asked to do it here - Jalen Carey, Joe Girard, Gerry McNamara, Frank Howard, Adrian Autry, Mike Gbininje, Kaleb Joseph, Louis McCrosky, Brandon Triche.
And for most of those, the fan base was critical of their point guard skills.

I can’t consider anyone who fouls as much and as quickly as Petar to be a good defensive player.

Hey Bob Huggins is available

He at least would force them to improve their defense and bring some toughness. Hed probably hate the roster since it can't defend and is mostly soft.

Not really serious as I know his transgressions would not go over with the powers that be but a coach like him is what's needed to change the culture.

You should go back and look at tapes of Rony Seikaly or Etan Thomas their freshman year. Thomas once fouled out against Georgetown in only 5 minutes.

And they weren’t good defensive players their freshman years.

Yes. That's my point, too. Petar is only a freshman and has played pro ball in France.
That's a better background, playing against grown men who play for pay, than most HS recruits.
He's more ready to play. But the US game at this level is a bit fast for him right now.

My father-in-law used to Rony Seiklay stinks. He was always a step slow in his defensive rotations as a frosh, and even a sophomore. I said his athleticism was just fine, it was about footwork and timing.
And sure enough, Rony turned into an All American.

Petar is going to get better with more game time. He's certainly no slower than Luca Doncic, right?
Play him, too, just like people are calling for Red to play Moore and Freeman more, now that the post-season aspirations are gone.

Play the players who can be here next year, let the others come off the bench.

The big difference is that they were 4 year players and worth the investment of time. We need instant gratification in the day of 1 year players.
I agree with you, I'd like to see Petar get more time.
Who knows where he will end up next year. Play them or lose them to the portal.

Rony wasn't rated at all. He was a complete surprise whose sister had attended SU. He attended a HS in Lebanon.

And his brother went to Colgate. Nobody was recruiting him and he walked into JB's office. There's a cool video with Rony telling how he came to play basketball then dj and then designing an selling multi million dollar homes in Miami.

Never argued that. My point is that if some metric says he’s currently our best or second best defender, it’s nuts.

Yep. Not saying Petar will be Seikaly or Thomas but he's here to be the fourth big. Would like him to cut down on whistles but guys in those roles are here to rebound and give extra fouls. He's doing both. Pretty low on our laundry list of problems.

And married then divorced a smoking hot swimsuit model.

A third year may kill whats left of this program. To Red’s defense, there was hardly anything left of the program when JB left.
Fire him before the acc tournament. We will not have syracuse basketball if we wait

To all that continue to watch and show up to support…at what point do you change your mentality and show the administration that this is unacceptable?
I can show up and support and find the result unacceptable. This game is so bad it ranks with getting blown out by a bottom feeding DePaul team several years ago. I have advocated for giving Red three years, but I am questioning my commitment to that idea. It is one thing to be overmatched, but we are playing like a laughing stock and our lack of consistent effort is making it worse.

It's a fine line I walk between "enjoying my nachos" and "literally chuckling at the unsolicited suggestion I pick up some courtside seats."
