Clean House

I’ve always advocated for coaches. It’s an impossible job and fluke events of chance can have outsized effect on your results a lot of the time. This, though, it’s an emergency level of utter incompetence. Its urgent to fire the entire staff as soon as can be practically done. Maybe that’s the end of the season at this point. The idea that firing Red will cost them the great recruiting class stinks but honestly what is he going to do with a great recruiting class? Lose by 12 instead of 25? It’s wasted on this staff regardless of how good a class it is. I feel bad for Kiyan wasting his college experience on this dumpster fire of a staff.

This is hyperbole. Iowa State was like 2-18 in the Big 12 the last year under Steve Prohm and Otzelberger turned them around in 1 year and had them in the tourney.
Would TJ take the job?

…sigh.

We won't be at the ACC tournament
We will be fortunate to win 10 games even if JJ comes back. Never, in my worse nightmares did I believe we would be this terrible. I expected a drop-off after JAB was gone but this is much worse than I thought it would be. Only hope we have is that the ACC is historically weak.

We have to find our own Otzelberger. A guy who coached at a mid major (South Dakota state) and then moved to a G5 school (UNLV) before landing at Iowa State, where he was previously a longtime assistant. Hodgson’s resume is a bit light comparatively, but I feel like he could be the next Nate Oats, especially since he was an assistant coach under Oats for years and his teams have an offensive identity. There are other mid major guys out there like McCollum who could have big upside.

Is there evidence that the recruits wouldn’t be happy if another coach came in? Maybe they came in spite of red?

I agree. It's not like they're playing hard for him - or for themselves.
