Goodman the Hack at it again, wasn't even a month ago he was pushing Hodgson to SU, now with Siena winning the MAAC, he is pushing Gerry. Wouldn't trust anything he says about the situation.

The statement put out by Syracuse today indicates, to me, that Syracuse is serious about improving the program and realizes they need to put up some real money in order to do so. That shouldn't prevent them from hiring Hodgson or anyone else they want if that candidate is the one for the job.

Please I beg you to go back and really watch the Siena games , watch the Fairfield one .. Gerry made some great set calls with flare action with post diving and very good secondary break action …

People, good high level college basketball coaches scout sets and offense . if they any good they take away stuff … Sets don’t always work and with a 30 sec clock you have to have guys make plays .. Just the deal.
Gerry runs a lot of offense and the ball moves until late shot clock when guys gotta make a play …

JB had his last 10 yrs years mixed in with top 50 offense teams so there’s that .. Red teams were not good offensley for a few reasons .. Red didn’t have adjustments or other options to sets .. Players couldn’t execute and third they didn’t go hard enough .. Cuts were slow and screens were Lazy

Offense needs execution, players that can create/ have skill and shot makers .. plus they need to go hard and have a purpose .. Red and Cuse lacked those elements .. Gerry’s team lacks the depth of players skill but has everything else

He’s better than the rest of JB’s tree, but he’s not Hodgson. They play slow. I know part of it is the lack of depth, but not a fan of it.

Not sure how dialed in Goodman is per se on Syracuse. It's been a while I am sure for him. For example Lally supports BH already. I would wager that if BH is the guy that Lally will provide out of the gate a lift on Nil. Also I bet ADJW is organizing behind the scenes a minimum Nil, enough to help the new AD bring in the coach desired. It will be up to the new coaches and AD to keep selling after that.

It doesn't look like USF has a good enough resume to get an at-large bid, so in a strange way I'm rooting for Hodgson to get knocked out so his price won't go up.

They did but he has said numerous times in interviews that he never considered leaving until both Gerry and Judah left. He intended to graduate from SU, that was always his plan.
Could be lying I suppose?

The NIL budget has to be AT LEAST $10-11 million and must be guaranteed for more than one year. If SU wants to be part of the next expansion, they better start providing resources to football and basketball to make it happen. If you want to swim with the big boys, you better start paying like the big boys.

Wha is the infatuation with CBH?… I think ihe is in same pool as GMAC .. New HCs .. I understand he recruited under oats but Oats is a closer. There’s always this thought too that . I’ve seen the with some really good coaches at mid major level .. Some are energetic and crush the regular season but cannot win a make or break game to get to NCAA tourney .. Just too much pressure in that big one .. Let’s see how CBH does this year when he should win

James Jones is great. SUNY Albany grad. But, he is 62 years old and has not really been in a NIL environment as competitive as a lot of other schools.

Red couldn’t even put us in position to play a make or break game. Can’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

You could make the same argument around Shertz if you go that route. BH took Ark state to the title game of their conference tournament and did lose but they didnt flake out. Not to mention he worked under Oats who had no issues coming up with big wins when it mattered at UB and Bama so while your premise applies to really any coach option whose up and coming, I think it’s short sighted on what BH brings trying to advocate for Gerry more.

I think one factor is that people simply don't want another Syracuse assistant even if they're willing to grant that Gerry has done a nice job at Siena so far.

Beyond that, 3 > 1. Hodgson has been a head coach 3 years now and posted a winning record all 3 years and were legitimately very good the last two. USF is also simply a higher level of competition than Siena.

I don’t disagree more money is needed, but why does the cash strapped Big12 outside of 3 or 4 schools still send a gazillion team to the tournament. It’s an all encompassing crutch here cause Red is so bad.
