Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

came down for the first time in forever. my wife is navigating. Get to the end where its detour to 81 south, Then you get to the round about and nothing. a sign might be nice.
They can’t afford signage. $20M was shunted to this stupid I-695 project in fairmount which was never a problem in the first place.

That road is terrible. It has been sinking for years.

just glad I kinda knew it ended up on Onondaga hill if I went right after going up the hill. My wife was like we have to turn around,

An aquarium is a zoo for fish.

I think I've been to the real zoo once in the past 45 years.
Interesting take. I get it, people dislike zoos because they think it's unfair to the animals. Many zoos are also big on saving animals and rehabilitation. Im not talking about sea world.

Hah. I have been in there a handful of times. 2 or 3 times for chowder fest and once for Margarita fest. Used to go to the downtown suds all the time 15-20 years ago. I believe they did 25 cent wings for football. I remember pounding 40 of those in one sitting when I was in my early 20’s.
Im dating myself here im sure, but I started bouncing there when I was 18 I think... so that would have been 98' or so. This is a total side bar, but did you ever get to Hooligans back in the day for 1cent wings?

98 was before my time. I didn’t start venturing out to the Syracuse suburbs until 2008. It was only open a couple years before the current owner of Sharkeys took it over.

I went to Hooligans once and Darryl Watkins and Terrence Roberts were bouncing. I'm not sure I've ever seen two higher looking people in my life.

I also remember this. I forget what the name of the party they had on like Thursday nights was, but those were fun times

Bike Night?

I know Hooligans was one of the bars that had live music outside on Thursdays.

Yup, it was definitely at one of their Thursday night parties!

What are you talking about? I drive it every day and never once thought, "hmm, this road needs a facelift".
The pavement is fine. The subsurface has been sinking for years likely due to erosion or poor initial installation of the road bed.

If you know, you know.

Thats all fun and dandy until you get a sinkhole.

Here's another one. Town of Salina is buying up some vacant land (5 acres) next to their new community center they are building on Route 11. They want to control development and turn it into mixed use retail and housing.

This is the section of Route 11 just north of the Hollywood theatre in Mattydale, isn’t it? Guessing the community center is being built mostly on the land that once held a roller rink.

That area of Route 11 has hit hard times. Lots of abandoned buildings and empty lots. I am glad the town is talking steps to try and remove the blight.

Wow, just read a bit jumping-off from that article - did not know that L. Frank Baum used to live in the spot where the Sports-o-Rama was. I attended Roxboro back in the late 70's and used to skate at the rink. Crazy.

My sister takes her daughter all the time. She’s 2.5 and would stay all day.

Me on the other hand last went to the zoo in high school when we used to have field parties on the 5th hole of Burnett golf course.
