Public/private development partnerships corrupt? That's unpossible.
Public/private development partnerships corrupt? That's unpossible.
My uncle used to do it on the county roads in Oswego county from time to time on his way somewhere. He didn't have to, but he figured he was already driving somewhere and thought he would drop the plow on the way to help the people that didn't have vehicles as capable.why would PRIVATE plow, plow a street they are not being paid for???private means private!!! no one but the owner is paying to maintain them. they are not a city, county, or state payroll --with benefits!!
i do wonder if the consolidation of city, municipality and county services would be valuable, streamline and coordinate services, saving money be more in the long run.
That is the choice they made the first two times the roof needed to be replaced. It would be out of step with the rest of the world and risky as hell but in the short term, it would save money. Is it possible that SU just replaces the dome roof with another inflatable?
Thanks Tom i have not heard anything but i can see them kicking this down the road. That is the choice they made the first two times the roof needed to be replaced. It would be out of step with the rest of the world and risky as hell but in the short term, it would save money.

Wasn't there concern that air supported roof technology is mostly outdated and that very few if any still exist? I imagine it will be incredibly difficult to service any issues that may arise being the only one still standing. Not sure how realistic or cost effective an option this is, and given the issues in MN, probably increases insurances costs tremendously. Would love to see a breakdown of what another 20+ of a air supported roof in Syr will cost for those policies, vs simply doing a hard roof and no bells and whistles. That is the choice they made the first two times the roof needed to be replaced. It would be out of step with the rest of the world and risky as hell but in the short term, it would save money.
And the cost of new stadium in 2044 would probably be in excess of $1 billion.A new inflatable roof just pushes the Dome reno off for another 15-20 years.
If that happens, we may see a whole new stadium build in the 2040's.
Maybe they've put some feelers out and they now feel confident that Ben Walsh and Joanie will help strike a deal with Albany.I take some hope in the comment that SU is in great financial shape.

Really good piece by Doucette on I-81:
Follow Amazon's roadmap to a vibrant, thriving Syracuse (Commentary)
Now, see John DeFrancisco? Hear what he says? Who are you going to listen to, the party with real-world experience or the guy who's lived in the same neighborhood in a dying city for 70 years?
I have memories of shopping there.

My two memories of that store were the elevator operator calling off the floors, especially mezzanine, and the overhead suction tubes for sending payments up to accounting. Things a kid didn't see elsewhere in the small towns of upstate NY.My grandmother ran the cafe for years. I think until about 1966.
